Job Description:

• Work directly with the Mascot Coordinator to organize & coordinate events, promotions & marketing campaigns that will generate appearances and brand awareness with Sky Guy.
• Attend & assist at events, games & appearances with Sky Guy.
• Provide support at all necessary Chicago Sky community and team appearances with the mascot


Position Responsibilities:

• Provide the necessary assistance for mascot at team related functions.
• Assist in the execution of skits, fan participation activities and other game operations elements with the mascot.
• Assist in locating and securing external promotions and appearances for Sky Guy to be involved in (i.e. schools, hospitals, shopping malls, retailers, festivals, restaurants, etc.)
• Assist with the planning and coordination of grassroots marketing initiatives, events and promotions designed to secure leads, encourage trial and drive day of game attendance dealing with the mascot.
• Handle general office duties such as data entry, copying, filing and faxing
• Assist mascot with game operations and preparing for game day 
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Have a background in sports, marketing, gymnastics, theater or an aspect of entertainment.
• Be willing to use your personal vehicle to travel and if need be transport equipment to and from events.
• Be in good physical condition (athletic)
• Must have good verbal and people skills.
• Must be familiar with how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must have a positive, energetic and creative personality
• Must be reliable, punctual and courteous
• Ability to respond to various situations quickly and professionally
• General knowledge of the sport of basketball and the Chicago Sky

Chicago Sky Ticket Sales & Services Internship - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

 

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. The sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the Sky sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. The position will gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing through implementing and planning off season activities, theme related nights, and the 2014 season. Interns will also assist in facilitating grassroots marketing events.
Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports marketing world, it is a non-paid position however there may be potential to earn sales commission.

 

Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and executing various grassroots marketing activities with ticket department in order to drive ticket sales and brand awareness
• Set up and transport various Sky products and materials to and from events, festivals, tournaments, leagues, etc
• Assist in Sky basketball clinics, Court of Dreams and Team Camp events when needed 
• Raise fan support and Sky ticket sales through lead generation, cold calls, and events
• Aid VP of Ticket Sales and department in assigned tasks including research and projects
• Create and implement strategies to prospect, develop, and grow ticket sales opportunities and ideas
• Work with Ticket Sales department in implementation of marketing plans designed to reach particular groups and demographics
• Coordinate ticket distribution program through outreach to non-profit organizations and other community groups
• General office duties

BASKETBALL OPERATIONS INTERN


DEPARTMENT: Basketball Operations

REPORTS TO: Executive VP of Basketball Operations

Assist the Houston Rockets front office in answering fundamental basketball questions using the best data sets in the game.  Questions are approached using a variety of mathematical and computational tools combined with basketball knowledge and intuition.  Premium is placed on actionable and timely analysis. Position is an excellent opportunity for those considering a career in the NBA, sports or data analysis. The position reports to the EVP of Basketball Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience with varied programming languages, particularly SQL

-Experience with data analysis, statistics and/or econometrics and familiarity with commonly used statistics packages or programming languages.

-Background in mathematical or computational field are desirable but not required.

-Experience with large data sets is an advantage, as is experience with scripting languages.

-Availability to serve a one-year internship. 

-Basic knowledge and familiarity of basketball and terminology

Sales interns of the Los Angeles Sparks will assist the sales staff in maintaining up to date sales leads on a weekly basis while being responsible in aiding the sales staff in the research of new business opportunities. Sales interns will also act as additional daily and event support with the Los Angeles Sparks sales staff and assist in the execution of specified sales packages and programs (season/partial/group).

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for research of potential groups and leads for ticket targeted programs/events
• Help provide qualified leads and assist with sales ideas
• Help create and provide sales materials as needed
• Support sales staff in setting up sales tables inside the area and at community events
• Responsible for assisting sales team with events and activities that are ticketing related
• Follow up of leads and ticket sales or upcoming games, ticket-targeted programs and seasonal events
• Also includes the ability to experience other departments inside professional sports (customer service, marketing, game operations, sponsorship, e.t.c.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Job Description:
This is an opportunity to work in the fast-paced world of WNBA game presentation with the Los Angeles Sparks. On a given game night, the Game Operations department is involved with most aspects of entertainment and the fulfillment of corporate promotions. This department is responsible for the planning and execution of each game night’s format. The intern group serves as the staff that makes everything outside of the actual “game” possible.


Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attend ALL Sparks home games to help with the implementation of programs throughout the game
• Assist in coordinating game-day set-up including banners, on-court props, halftime details, booths, giveaways, etc
• Assist in coordinating on-court promotions, national anthem, on-court contests, halftime events, and other in-arena game night activities
• Assist sponsorship department on game-day projects including all on-court and halftimes promotions, etc.

Summary/Objective
This position includes working in the office during non-game days supporting various sales and service initiatives, participating in sales contests, and working Lynx home games throughout the season.

Essential Functions

Job Description:

Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) has a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Digital Marketing Internship available. The CRM and Digital Marketing Intern will work closely with the CRM and Analytics group to provide support to all initiatives regarding Salesforce.com (SFDC), Ticketmaster Archtics, and Oracle Eloqua. These platforms track and execute all interaction between MSE and the customers of our sports properties (Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics), including sales calls, order processing, and mass email distribution. Our intern will learn through on-the-job experience about professional database management and data analytics.

Responsibilities:
• Resolve service Cases from internal SFDC users, which include, but are not limited to:
     o Merging duplicate Accounts and Contacts in SFDC and Archtics
     o Changing Primary Contacts on SFDC Accounts, ensuring proper integration to Archtics
• Create Reports in SFDC and build Dashboard components to display and analyze reported data
• Build mass email communications and surveys through Eloqua and analyze interaction metrics
• Research best practices for the administration and development of SFDC
• Contribute to SFDC user adoption and training


Experience / Skill Requirements:
• 1-2 years office experience preferred

Job Purpose

Description
Monumental Sports & Entertainment is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment companies in the country with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports. Monumental Sports owns and operates three professional sports teams; the NBA's Washington Wizards, NHL's Washington Capitals and WNBA's Washington Mystics. The group also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, DC and oversees the management of Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the state-of-the-art training facility for the Capitals, as well as George Mason University's Patriot Center.


Majors Desired: Sports Management, Sports Communication, or similar sports related majors are preferred. Any majors are welcome to apply and will be fairly considered.


Time Preference: Available 3 or more days/week during business hours and also available to work weekday and weekend game/event nights.


Job/Project Description:

  • Work with planning manager to assist in the design and production of sales collateral.
  • Assist with sales set up for every home game.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating all sales related events and promotions.
  • Assist with in game promotions and initiatives.
  • Data reporting and analysis using Archtics ticketing software.
  • Attend/shadow sales trainings and meetings.
  • Track and manage sales collateral inventory.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Experience/Skills Desired:

  • Knowledge of sports and customer service.
  • Self-starter that works well independently and in groups.

INTERNSHIP (Summer 2014): Washington Wizards & Mystics Senior Sales - Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics (Washington, DC)

Description
Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics. Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the group operates Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Capitals' state-of-the-art training facility in Arlington, Va., and George Mason University's Patriot Center, located in Fairfax, Va.


Responsibilities:


Database Management:
• Input assigned leads into Salesforce database
• Update/manage current accounts
• Collaborate with senior representatives on personal databases

Event and Gameday Staffing:
• Complete game night responsibilities at Washington Wizards events and Washington Mystics games– Ex. Staff sales tables, promotional fulfillment, gameday service & prospecting events, etc.
• Participate in grassroots marketing and other networking events in DC area
• Assist with in-game lead generation programs

Sales Prospecting:
• Assist representatives in corporate research for B2B sales
• Make outbound phone calls to past ticket sales clients on behalf of senior representatives
• Make introductory phone calls to potential ticket buyers prospecting all MSE properties

Sports Career:
• Work with senior sales representatives on sales training, sales calls, in-arena appointments, etc.
• Learn all aspects of the sales process within the ticket sales department.
• Develop relationships and network with senior level executives at Monumental Sports
• Gain exposure to other business operations departments within MSE

Administrative Tasks:
• Compile and organize client and prospect databases
• Research other professional sports teams ticket sales campaigns to determine ‘best practices’
• Assist with direct mail and customer outreach campaigns

Qualifications and Experience Needed:
• Must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week
• Must be an undergraduate or graduate student receiving credit for the internship in the Summer 2014 Semester
• Prefer a Junior or Senior in College or equivalent experience
• Must be available to work days and evenings as well as certain weekends and special events as needed
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Good communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & Outlook

Partnership Intern (Summer 2014) - WNBA Tulsa Shock (Tulsa, OK)

Partnership Intern 

Tulsa Pro Hoops, host organization of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, is currently recruiting Partnership Department interns, known as Partnership Interns, for the upcoming 2014 Summer semester. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the Summer semester. 

Internship Information

The internship takes place in the Tulsa Shock office located in downtown Tulsa. Partnership Interns support various staff members in areas related to partnership partners, events and entertainment fulfillment, and marketing. These interns support the partnership coordinator with partnership sales coordination, prospect research, keeping and updating prospecting lists, working on in-arena activations and set up, inventory tracking, website partnership promotion updates, photography and preparing partnership recap summaries.

Additionally, the Summer semester internship includes a considerable amount of in-arena activation duties including:

Customer Service – Interns interact with current partners, prospective customers, and sales staff by phone and in person. Excellent telephone communication skills are required. Interns are required to fulfill partnership activations and promotions during the season. At no time during the internship are interns expected to solicit sponsorship sales.

Intern Projects – Interns work on various team projects 20 – 40 hours per week. Projects include corporate research, creating and maintaining corporate partner photo libraries, activation fulfillment set-up, set-up of partnership functions and needs at BOK Center, supervision of the volunteer corps for giveaways and other activities during home game nights at BOK Center, etc. Also, interns will be taught how to create and assist with corporate sponsorship PowerPoint proposals.

This is a part-time (20-40 hours per week) unpaid internship for college credit. Summer internships begin May 2014 and end August or September 2014. Interns are required to live in the Tulsa area for the duration of the internship or able to commute to the Tulsa office in a timely manner. Current college students in their freshman to senior years and recent college graduates may apply. Current college students chosen for the internship program may use the internship to receive college credit hours, if the college allows.

Characteristics of Ideal Candidates
Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects, able to prioritize their time and be comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and strong organizational skills are a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills are important due to the significant number of phone calls and questions interns are required to handle. Knowledge about the game of basketball is not required.
