Postion Overview

The Charlotte Hornets seek an energetic individual to support members of the Basketball Operations staff with all basketball operations related tasks. Candidates who are available for both the fall and spring semester are preferred as this is a season-long position.

Essential Duties and Responsbilities

  • Assist with database management
  • Assist with preparations for the NBA Draft and free agency.
  • Assist with various basketball operations projects as assigned

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

SKY Ticket Operations Internship

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that are able to work individually or in a team environment.  Knowledge of the Archtics ticketing system is a plus, but not required.  Training will be provided upon acceptance into the program.  Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports operations/sales world, it is an un-salaried position; however, any sales made by a will receive a commission.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Buying and selling tickets through the Sky CRM database
• Updating and filtering the Sky database to ensure accurate information for the sales team
• Creating ticket templates and printing tickets to be mailed
• Assisting the sales team at events, while interacting with fans and prospects to help sell tickets and promote the Sky
• Act on behalf of the Chicago Sky and its respective partners and sponsors with enthusiasm, energy, pride, and professionalism

Description:

The Dallas Mavericks are seeking driven, creative, and energetic local college students for an Ambassador position for the 2017-18 season. This is an opportunity for someone with an outgoing personality, passion for the Mavericks and their campus, to start a career in the sports industry. The Dallas Mavericks College Ambassadors primary focus is supporting the Mavericks brand by promoting upcoming games, events, and special offers to the student population.

Students will gain valuable experience working with the front office. The goal of a Mavericks brand ambassador is to excite students in new and unique ways while increasing recognition of the Mavs College Pass program. This ambassador program is a paid position and is ONLY for currently enrolled students of sophomore or junior status for the 2017-2018 school year.

Responsibilities:

  • Positively represent the Mavs brand on campus at all times. Consistently acting with professionalism and being courteous to fellow students, campus administrators, and local community leaders
  • Promote the Mavericks and College Pass on campus using the provided materials to create brand awareness of events and promotions on campus
  • Work with Mavs front office staff to develop ways to integrate a Mavericks activation into big events and/or gatherings taking place on your campus
  • Identify and build relationships with key student groups on campus that would be interested in bringing their groups and organizations to Mavericks games

Overview

The intern will assist with key projects directed to improving our community, sustaining the Drive's reputation as a good corporate citizen, as well as assisting in the coordination of Drive events this summer in the West Michigan area. This position requires attendance at some after-hours programs and weekend special events as well as the weekly office visits. 

Duties and tasks:

Athletic Training Aid

Overview:
The purpose of this program is to provide the student with an opportunity to aid the Sixers Camps Director of Athletic Training (Head Athletic Trainer) in, maintaining and executing strategies to successfully manage a  camp athletic training program. The individual will work under the supervision of a Nationally Certified (ATC) and Pennsylvania Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT)  to learn the “ins and outs” of operating an overnight sports camp from a medical perspective.

Qualifications:
• Open to college juniors, seniors and graduate students seeking a position to gain experience at a professional sports camp.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
• Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated and professional, and able to participate during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar
• Enrollment in Athletic Training is perferred.
• Must be certified in CPR, AED & first aid .
• Hiring is conditional on the successful completion of a criminal background check; applicants should also either possess or be able to attain PA Child Abuse History clearances.

Duties:

  • Work under the supervision of the Sixers Camp Director and Athletic Trainer in providing basic first aid to campers and staff.
  • Organize and coordinate deliveries of athletic training and first aid supplies.
  • Organize the daily athletic training room schedule both for the rehabilitation of injuries and to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Communicate with the director and the athletic trainer on a daily basis with respect to which campers are injured and require medical attention.
  • Aid the director and the athletic trainer in conducting morning stretching exercises of the campers.
  • Aid with the registration and orientation of the campers.
  • Aid the athletic trainer with campers requiring rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Aid the director and athletic trainer in making sure that campers and staff have their medical needs met during weekend trips.

Summary

The Sacramento Kings seek a Basketball Analytics Intern who will contribute to the development of cutting-edge basketball analytics systems. The Basketball Analytics Intern will assist the Kings analytics group through the analysis and research of basketball information. The specific day-to-day responsibilities of this position will vary depending on the basketball calendar, but it requires a general knowledge of how to use objective data to answer basketball-related questions, with a strong preference for a candidate possessing an established foundation of statistical and database management skills. The position will require collaboration with the entire analytics group, including the VP of Strategy and Analytics.

Duration: 4 to 12 months

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced statistical analysis on large datasets in order to assist in the decision-making of the Basketball Operations department.

  • Improve existing analytics resources and create new databases, models, and reports.

  • Perform ad-hoc research projects as requested and present those results in a concise, straightforward manner.

  • Provide administrative support and complete general intern duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with current state of freely available basketball research required.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with basketball data strongly preferred.

  • Experience with R statistical software package required.

  • Experience with relational databases and SQL strongly preferred.

  • Experience with at least one scripting language (i.e. Python) a plus.

Community Relations Internship - Texas Legends (Frisco, TX)

The Texas Legends NBA D-League in Frisco, TX is currently seeking interns for the Community Relations Department. Texas Legends interns are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.
