POSITION OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Hornets seek an energetic individual to support members of the Executive Offices staff with daily team operations and logistics. We are looking for an individual with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, with willingness to work flexible hours. . Academic credit must be obtained and the ability to work 30-40 hour per week to accept this position.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Hornets are seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates to become an integral part of our ongoing ticket sales efforts. The sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the Hornets sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. POSITION OVERVIEW
The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the members of the marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans. Unpaid internship working 30-40 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
• Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners
• Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports

Summer 2015 Finance Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

Hornets Sports & Entertainment seeks a Finance intern.

The Finance Department at Hornets Sports and Entertainment has seven members.  The department is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of a holding company which includes, among other legal and accounting entities, a National Basketball Team and the Time Warner Cable Arena. Also associated with the team is a 401(k) benefit plan and a not-for-profit organization.

While some of the tasks the intern will face might be routine, the Department will have needs the intern can fill that provide insight into the "nuts and bolts" of how the organization works. Just as important, the department members will be glad to share their experiences working in sports and entertainment.

  • Candidates should be available for 8 to 12 weeks
  • Rigor, attention to detail, and organization are keys to success
  • Must display a positive attitude to conform to the casual enviroment while demonstrating respect for all
  • Share our curiosity for the business and our desire to positively influence the business
  • Assist with the financial statement audit by preparing financial schedules to support the face statements or footnotes.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions
  • Update excel workbooks that summarize information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.
  • Assist with actual vs. budget comparisons
  • Assist finance members with developing detailed budgets based upon discussions with various department heads
  • Convert trial balance information into management reports
  • Record routine cash transactions in the cash management subledger and post the related entries to the general ledger
  • Perform rollforwards and reconciliations. Rollforwards and reconciliations to include cash, fixed assets, amounts payable to the city of Charlotte, and amounts payable to concert promoters.

Pursuit of a Finance, Accounting, or a related degree is preferred.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive college credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior or Senior.

The candidate will need to be in the office 30-40 hours a week.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Hornets are looking for a Graphic Design intern. This is a print design environment. The internship will allow the Intern to gain knowledge of printing and graphics. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters of the Charlotte Hornets season. These internships are unpaid; however college credit must be earned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work on programs, flyers, autograph cards, ads, etc., as well as assist designers with larger projects and have the opportunity to participate in group projects.
• Assist with social media and website design.
• Assist in production areas as needed to learn more about proper file setup and printing.
• Help in print/bindery department if necessary.
• Work with all departments, including Ticket Sales, Corporate Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Community Relations.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and requires the individual to receive academic credit. All candidates will be expected to intern 21-30 hours a week and attend all Hornets home games. Candidates will be responsible for assisting with the ideation, planning and implementation of all Corporate Social Responsibility fundraising campaigns and events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate Donation Xchange program of autographed items and merchandise-includes maintaining all databases and follow-through.
• Assist with Player Nation Ticket program - includes distribution of tickets on a per game basis.
• Help with planning, coordinating and implementing community initiatives, focusing on literacy and education, health and fitness, and wellness. Other CR events include Season of Giving, auctions, autograph sessions and mascot appearances. .

Provide administrative support to Hornets Basketball Operations staff.

Job Overview

·      Maintain and update the player biographies for use in media and all Sky web and print copy.

·      Research and write pregame story for website and in arena that focuses on the statistical match up between the Sky and opponent.

 Online Communications

·      Create content (including headlines, sub headings, copy etc) and assist in producing content for website, Facebook, Twitter & team message boards

·      Seek ways to use the online properties to grow awareness, sales and increase service, fan loyalty plus the dissemination of all information relating to the Sky

This is an unpaid position that reports to Media and Communications Manager. It is based at the Chicago Sky office in Skokie IL.  This position requires travel to and from practice (in-season), media appearances and Allstate Arena for game days.

Chicago Sky Ticket Sales Internship

 

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. The sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the Sky sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. The position will gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing through implementing and planning off season activities leading up to the 2015 season. Interns will also assist in facilitating grassroots marketing events including mascot appearances.

Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports marketing world, it is a non-paid position. However, there is potential to earn sales commission.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing various grassroots marketing activities with ticket department in order to drive ticket sales and brand awareness
  • Set up and transport  various Sky products and materials to and from events, festivals, tournaments, leagues, etc
  • Raise fan support and Sky ticket sales through lead generation, cold calls, and events

Description

The Chicago Sky is seeking former basketball players that will participate in all Chicago Sky youth basketball marketing and sales efforts for the Spring of 2015. The position will report directly to the Youth Basketball Specialist. While this is an unpaid internship, there may be opportunities to expand into a part-time or full-time position in the future.   • Coordinate of on-site activities at events, festivals, tournaments, clinics, leagues - including transport, set-up and supervision of all Sky equipment, products, and materials

Overview:

Internship Information

The internship takes place in the Tulsa Shock office located in downtown Tulsa. Business Operations Interns support various staff members in areas related to administrative duties, events, merchandise, sales and marketing. These interns support Office and Merchandise Managers with tasks such as:

·         Answer incoming calls, make outgoing calls

·         Perform various administrative tasks

·         Interact with employees and customers

·         Assist business operations

·         Assist in Shock retail merchandising (in office and on game days)

·         Assist ticket sales department

·         Responsible for data entry

·         Create, perform, and review surveys

·         Perform market research to determine and evaluate leads

·         Help to plan, organize and execute events

·         Organize and distribute season ticket holder gifts, birthday cards, etc.

·         Assist with research and tracking efforts to determine Season Ticket Holders concerns and interest

Characteristics of Ideal Candidates

Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects, able to prioritize their time and be comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and strong organizational skills along with initiative are a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge about the game of basketball is preferred but not required. A successful applicant will demonstrate resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals.

Creative Services Intern (Spring 2015)

Tulsa Pro Hoops, host organization of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, is currently recruiting Creative Services interns for the upcoming 2015 Spring and Summer semester. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the semester. 

This is a part-time (12-15 weeks for Spring, 20-40 hours per week for Summer) unpaid internship for college credit. Spring internships begin January 2015 and end May 2015. Summer internships start in May and end in August. Interns are required to live in the Tulsa area for the duration of the internship or able to commute to the Tulsa office in a timely manner. Current college students in their freshman to senior years may apply. Students chosen for the internship program must use the internship to receive college credit hours.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist marketing and design team in creating compelling materials throughout the season
• Develop print, web, and video graphics for all forms of advertisement (billboard, magazines, newspaper, internet) as well as the creation of in-game content.
• Collaborate with the Creative Services Coordinator to ensure consistent styling vision and to reflect our brand aesthetic
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Proven proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work long, challenging hours, including nights and weekends
• Eagerness to commit time and energy putting out the best materials they can
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy
• Video editing/motion graphics experience a plus
