Position Overview

You will work directly with Digital Marketing Manager, to facilitate and maintain the Charlotte Hornets email marketing strategy. This is an unpaid internship (working 20-40 hours per week) and we require that you receive school credit for your work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conception and creation of email templates ( using HTML)

Position Overview

The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the members of the marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans. Unpaid internship working 20-40 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The applicant will assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
  • Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners and other establishments
  • Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports

Position Overview

The Finance Department at Hornets Sports and Entertainment has seven members. The department is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of a holding company which includes, among other legal and accounting entities, a National Basketball Team and Spectrum Center. Also associated with the team is a 401(k) benefit plan and a not-for-profit organization. While some of the tasks the intern will face might be routine, the Department will have needs the intern can fill that provide insight into the "nuts and bolts" of how the organization works. Just as important, the department members will be glad to share their experiences working in sports and entertainment. This is a non-paid internship that requires the applicant to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be assisting with the financial statement audit by preparing financial schedules to support the face statements or footnotes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions
  • Updating Excel workbooks and summarizing information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.
  • Assisting the department with actual vs. budget comparisons
  • Assisting finance members with developing detailed budgets based upon discussions with various department heads

Position Overview

The intern will assist the Technical Operations department with managing and coordinating a wide array of functions for HSE and Spectrum Arena, including, but not limited to, event crewing, audio/video needs, studio production and recording, equipment maintenance and repair, ordering of parts, and operation of electronics systems and equipment design for all basketball and non-basketball related events.

  • Assist in the creation of Game Day Notes and Game Plans and preparing gift bags for VIP guests

The Charlotte Hornets are seeking a Graphic Design intern. This is a heavy print design environment. The internship will allow the Intern to gain knowledge of printing and graphics. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a dynamic and challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to actively take on responsibility throughout the summer semester. These internships are unpaid; however, college credit is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work load consist of a heavy dose of print projects from flyers, ads, sales slicks, promotional items and more. Logo creation, productions design and time management skills are a must for this role
  • You will be assisting the design team with larger projects and have the opportunity to participate in group projects.
  • Assisting with creation of social media and website graphics.
  • Researching and recommending images to use in assigned projects with the ability to mask out player images in Photoshop
  • Organizing graphic and photo files for the department.

Fun Zone Attendant - Windy City Bulls (Hoffman Estates, IL)

The Windy City Bulls are seeking a part-time Fun Zone Attendant for the team’s 2017-18 basketball season at the Sears Centre Arena. Fun Zone Attendants will provide oversight of the free children’s play area located on the floor near the basketball court during home games. Individual must be able to handle lines of children, be comfortable standing for long periods of time with repetitive, active movement, have an outgoing personality, enjoy working with children, and be willing to acquire general knowledge of the Windy City Bulls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to supervise and direct children in a friendly professional manner
  • Knowing and enforcing safety guidelines to ensure guest safety
  • Must be able and willing to help in the set up and break down of inflatable games and other equipment
  • Promote a family-friendly atmosphere
  • Perform other duties assigned in conjunction with oversight of the Fun Zone area

Requirements:

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Prior experience working with children in a kid-friendly environment preferred
  • Must have an enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a public environment
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Available on weekends and most game nights (24 games)

Community Relations & Operations Fall/Winter Internship - WNBA Chicago Sky (Chicago, IL)

The WNBA Chicago Sky is relocating downtown to the new Wintrust Arena and is looking for qualified interns to join us as we embark on this new adventure. Community Relations & Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience through planning and implementing community events / activities, membership events and grassroots marketing activities with a goal of driving trial and lead generation.  

Interns will assist with day to day operation of the team retail function and Sky Cares community outreach including: donations, charity tickets and outside events.

Interns will assist with planning and executing events such as Sky Cares Gala, High School Team of the Year program, execution of Sky Legacy Partner and Sky Partner activations and promotions as well as other required tasks.

Note: this is an unpaid internship; academic credit is available

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Excellent phone & computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Outgoing and able to be a Brand Ambassador
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Able to deal with internal and external clients in a professional manner
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task
  • Highly motivated, self starter with a passion for working in sports

Requirements

·         Marketing; sports administration; or related business majors

·         Live in Chicagoland Area 

·         Reliable Transportation 

·         Required to work Chicago Sky Events (nights and weekends may apply) 

·         Must be willing to work 20-25 hours per week 

This position reports directly to Director of Community Relations and Director or Operations. Candidates should be local to Chicago or be willing to relocate at their own expense.  Must have access to own transportation.
