Hornets Sports & Entertainment seeks a Finance intern.

The Finance Department at Hornets Sports and Entertainment has seven members.  The department is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of a holding company which includes, among other legal and accounting entities, a National Basketball Team and the Time Warner Cable Arena. Also associated with the team is a 401(k) benefit plan and a not-for-profit organization. 

While some of the tasks the intern will face might be routine, the Department will have needs the intern can fill that provide insight into the "nuts and bolts" of how the organization works. Just as important, the department members will be glad to share their experiences working in sports and entertainment.

  • Candidates should be available for 8 to 12 weeks
  • Rigor, attention to detail, and organization are keys to success
  • Must display a positive attitude to conform to the casual enviroment while demonstrating respect for all
  • Share our curiosity for the business and our desire to positively influence the business
  • Assist with the financial statement audit by preparing financial schedules to support the face statements or footnotes.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions
  • Update excel workbooks that summarize information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.
  • Assist with actual vs. budget comparisons
  • Assist finance members with developing detailed budgets based upon discussions with various department heads
  • Convert trial balance information into management reports
  • Record routine cash transactions in the cash management subledger and post the related entries to the general ledger
  • Perform rollforwards and reconciliations. Rollforwards and reconciliations to include cash, fixed assets, amounts payable to the city of Charlotte, and amounts payable to concert promoters.

Pursuit of a Finance, Accounting, or a related degree is preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This internship requires a commitment to assist staff during Hornets games and be able to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

• Responsible for working at all Hornets home games, staffing the Hornets Arena Will Call, Guaranteed Giveaways table, Guest Service Windows, and/or Season Ticket Holder booth on the concourse as needs dictate
• Perform and review surveys of season ticket holders.
• Work with Game Operations and all other game staffs with the execution of improvements to the game day experience for all Premium Seat Holders.
• Proactively communicate in person via other communication methods with premium seat holders to gauge satisfaction levels, and to inform them of upcoming season ticket holder exclusive events.

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. SPRING 2015 INTERNSHIP - MARKETING - PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (PHILADELPHIA, PA)

         Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY; Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students

  • Must be seeking an internship for class credit as a prescribed part of curriculum (students will be required to submit documentation from their school)
  • Some game nights and/or weekends may be required depending on the position; flexibility to participate a plus

    MARKETING

    • Learn fulfillment process of customer service phone inquiries
    • Assist with coordination of collateral material such as promotional material such as promotional pieces, schedules, calendars, etc.
    • Lead grassroots initiatives under the presence and supervision of a regular Marketing staff member
    • Assist with Read to Achieve, Summer-Hoops Tour and other 76ers community oriented programs
    • Assist with maintenance of contact lists / databases
    • Assist with marketing staff on 76ers radio, print, new media and television promotions
    • Assist with marketing staff various projects involving research and design
    • Assist with interaction and coordination of In-game marketing tabling and events
    • Participate in brainstorming sessions with Marketing staff
    • Assist with creating presentations, charts and graphs.

    Perform other objectives and projects as assigned

Game Day Operations Internship - Texas Legends (Frisco, TX)

The Texas Legends NBA D-League in Frisco, TX is currently seeking candidates for the Game-day Operations Internship Program. Texas Legends interns are part-time and allow individuals the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.
A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals. We are looking for someone willing to blend easily into a team environment, but driven to take the initiative to succeed when presented with individual work responsibilities

The Game-day Operations Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
• Assist game-day operation staff with various tasks associated with in-game promotions, game-day entertainment and fan experience, and other game-day functions.
• Assist with pre-game preparation (such as locker room set-up, court-side suites preparation, ect).
• Weekly participant of Texas Legends “Street Team” to engage fans, communicate promotions, ect.
• Assist Project Manager with various tasks as needed
Preferred Requirements:
• Currently enrolled or plan to enroll in an undergraduate program-- preferred majors: Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or other related field.
• Applicable social media skills

Suite Sales & Services Spring Intern - Toyota Center/Houston Rockets (Houston, TX)

 RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
• Maintain a detailed customer database of all clients and prospects
• Assist in the creation and implementation of sales related collateral materials

Overview:  The Guest Services Intern will have the opportunity to see firsthand how a successful Guest Services department within a large, complex and diverse organization such as the Washington Wizards functions. Job Description and Overall Duties:

  • Learn departmental policies and procedures       
  • Assists and supports the Guest Services department with Service and Retention initiatives including special events, welcome packets and season ticket member benefit fulfillment for the upcoming season. This may include, but is not limited to:
    • Assist with the implementation of our MSE Rewards Program
    • Assist with event set up, coordination, and execution of member events and receptions
    • Track and maintain inventory of autographed/promotional items and season ticket member collateral materials
    • Learn and use Archtics ticketing system and SalesForce for reports, account set-up and updating season ticket member records
    • Engage season ticket base through personal interactions at events; provides superior customer service and collaborates with full-time staff to enhance the fan experience
  • Assist Manager, Events & Programs with season ticket member events including setup, execution, breakdown and final recaps for all season ticket member events 
  • Attends Guest Services meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:           

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in good academic standing and must earn college credit toward graduation and will be required to submit a credit verification letter from his or her college or university for the internship
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours a week with the ability to work night and weekends for events as needed.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and willingness to communicate face-to-face with our season ticket members
  • Must have in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be a self-motivated, outgoing individual that can demonstrate initiative and shows interest when working with the department on projects and/or events
  • Basketball knowledge and customer service experience a plus, but not required
