Community Relations & Operations Internship - GAME DAY ONLY - Chicago Sky (Rosemont, IL)

Community Relations & Operations Game Day Interns will work all Chicago Sky  2017 home games and assist with implementation of all game day activities at Allstate Arena.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: set-up/tear down of concourse, 50/50 raffle, supervising mascot, pre-game/post-game events, and on court promotions.

Interns may be asked to help work other community events if available throughout the season.

Criteria & Qualifications:

·         Highly motivated; demonstrates initiative and independent problem solving

·         Demonstrated strength in communication

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations & Marketing and associated staff and is an unpaid, part time internship.  Candidates should be local to Chicago or be willing to relocate at their own expense.  Must have access to own transportation.

Community Relations & Operations Summer Internship - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

The Community Relations & Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience through planning and implementing community events / activities, membership events and grassroots marketing activities with a goal of driving trial and lead generation.  

Interns will also work all Sky home games and assist with implementation of game operations and community activities in-arena.  Interns will also assist with day to day operation of the team retail function, community donation program, Sky Cares silent auctions and may also participate in the team's 50/50 Charitable fundraising on game days. 

Interns will assist with planning and executing events such as Sky Cares Gala and assist with the execution of Sky Legacy Partner and Sky Partner activations and promotions as well as other tasks as required.

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Excellent phone & computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Outgoing and able to be a Brand Ambassador - willingness to approach strangers to initiate conversations about the Sky
  • Willingness to assist with fundraising 
  • Detail oriented and organized

Community Relations Internship - Los Angeles Sparks (Los Angeles, CA)

LOS ANGELES SPARKS COMMUNITY RELATIONS INTERNSHIP

This position will serve as support and administrator for the development and execution of day-to-day and long-term community relations initiatives. This internship will provide valuable experience planning and executing major fundraisers and events, working with our non-profit charitable foundation, developing and maintaining community partnerships, fulfilling community donation requests and coordinating player appearances and fan experiences.

Title: Community Relations Intern

Reporting To:  Community Relations Liaison
Hours: 15-20 hour per week
Seasonal position

Salary: This is a non-paid internship; college credit offered where applicable

Job Purpose:
• 50%: To assist with the design and execution of the Sparks community initiatives throughout the off-season
• 50%: To assist with community donation requests, player appearances, scheduling and planning of community events

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning, promotion and execution of all community relations programs and events
• Assist with processing donation and appearance requests 
• Assist in the coordination and maintenance of the LA Sparks Foundation
• Maintain various databases and spreadsheets
• Maintain inventory for all memorabilia and promotional items
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong creative-thinking skills
• Passion to work in the sports industry and with non-profits
• Ability to successfully multi-task and maintain organization

Summer Business Strategy Associate - Orlando Magic (Orlando, FL)

This is a SUMMER Business Strategy Associate position.  This position is for a 10-12 week assignment working up to 40 hours a week.

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Business Strategy department acts as an in-house consultancy for all revenue generating departments by providing analytic and strategic support for both immediate and long-term initiatives.  The department oversees the organization’s data warehousing efforts to create a single customer view allowing for comprehensive analysis and revenue enhancement. The Summer Associate with be responsible for two to three strategic projects focused on improving business operations for the Orlando Magic.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports To:     Director of Business Strategy           

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Summer Associate will lead two or three strategic projects and initiatives related to:

  • Ticketing analytics/tickets sales strategy

  • Corporate partnership analytics

  • Digital strategy and performance analytics

  • Campaign/lead management and CRM analysis

  • Other strategic and analytic initiatives

  • Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • First year MBA student at top MBA Programs.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills required.

  • Familiarity with digital marketing KPIs preferred.

  • 3+ years of analyst experience at a management consulting firm, investment bank or other leading organization preferred.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with SAS, SPSS, or other statistical software preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong emphasis in Excel modeling.

    • Proficient in, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other related computer skills required.

    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

    • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and support multiple high level executive positions.
