Spring 2017 Internship Program - Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (Brooklyn, NY)

The Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (Brooklyn Nets, New York Islanders, Long Island Nets & Barclays Center) Spring Internship Program provides an excellent learning environment for students seeking an opportunity within the sports and entertainment industry. We, as a company, are seeking students who are prepared and eager to learn, work hard and operate diligently throughout the internship program. By doing so, our interns are able to learn and absorb as much information and experiences to take moving forward in their professional career. Each intern will be assigned to a specific department in which they will remain for the duration of the program. During their time, they will learn the work flow and processes of that particular department. Although the responsibilities given will be challenging, the results will prove to be truly rewarding.

Our Requirements

·         All interns must be eligible to receive academic credit for the internship!

·         Interns must be available to start the first week of the academic semester and the program will end one week prior to finals.

·         For the Spring 2017 semester, each intern must be available for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Please note that schedules are prepared around the intern's academic requirements and schedule.

·         In order to be considered, you must either be in your junior or senior year of college, or be in a graduate school program.

·         Intern candidates in their junior or senior year must have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher.

Interview Process

Selected qualified applicants will be scheduled for either a phone interview or an in-person interview during the months of October (after the close date) and November. The program will begin on January 16, 2017.

Department Availability

The majority of the intern opportunities will be located in downtown Brooklyn at our MetroTech offices. A small handful of departments and internship positions are located at the HSS Training Center or Barclays Center. If you are selected for an interview, we will ask for your top three choices. Several departments will be discussed at that time and we will select the most qualified candidate for each department.

Position Purpose

The Reno Bighorns are looking to hire two communication interns, each position will run from September 2016 till April 2017. The position is an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the professional sports public relations industry. Each intern will interact daily with members of the media as well as various departments within the Bighorns organization to assist with the overall public relations/media relations efforts of the team.   • Assist Bighorns PR Staff in all aspects of the team’s public/media relations efforts.

  • Help coordinate written, video, and photo content trafficking and distribution across social media platforms
  • Assist with occasional website content creation
  • Support photography and graphic design needs (including infographics, social creative, etc.)
  • Assist in the conceptualization and execution of digital marketing campaigns to maximize outreach, fan engagement, and campaign performance
  • Provide gameday and event support for all digital efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seeking a degree in the preferred areas of study including; digital media, marketing, social media/web management, journalism or communications
  • Knowledgeable about the latest technology and social media trends and tools
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
  • Excellent computer and graphic design skills including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Possess a working knowledge of and passion for basketball
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the organization schedule directs
  • Maintain professionalism when speaking with athletes and coaches in both a work setting and within the context of an interview

Community Relations Internship - Texas Legends (Frisco, TX)

The Texas Legends NBA D-League in Frisco, TX is currently seeking interns for the Community Relations Department. Texas Legends interns are part-time and allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible.
A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals. The Community Relations Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
Community Relations Duties
• Assist with community outreach events
• Participate in various ventures to collect information for organization outreach database
• Weekly participate of Texas Legends “Street Team” to engage fans, communicate promotions, ect.
• Assist Project Manager with various tasks as needed
Preferred Requirements:
• Currently enrolled or plan to enroll in an undergraduate program- preferred majors: Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or other related field.
