Fall 2017 Membership Services Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a non-paid internship that requires the intern to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.This internship requires a commitment to assist staff during Hornets games and be able to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for working at all Hornets home games, staffing the Hornets Arena Will Call, Guaranteed Giveaways table, Guest Service Windows, and/or Season Ticket Holder booth on the concourse as needs dictate
  • Perform and review surveys of season ticket holders.
  • Work with Game Operations and all other game staffs with the execution of improvements to the game day experience for all Premium Seat Holders.
  • Proactively communicate in person and via other communication methods with premium seat holders to gauge satisfaction levels, and to inform them of upcoming season ticket holder exclusive events.
  • Help to plan, organize and execute season ticket holder events including, but not limited to first year orientation and open practices.
  • Interact with employees and customers to assist in the resolution of problems and concerns voiced by season ticket holders.
  • Organize and distribute season ticket holder gifts, birthday cards, etc.
  • Assist with research and tracking efforts to determine Season Ticket Holders concerns and interest.
  • Contribute to the day to the day to operations of the membership service department in preparation of daily objectives, game day duties, and the renewal campaign.  
  • Manage the client services hotline to assist Swarm Members and Individual Game Buyers who are experiencing issues with their online account manager by using Archtics and CRM database system
  • Take inbound and make outbound calls to customers who need assistance
  • Input information collected from Swarm Members from face-to-face interactions and phone calls into the CRM database to manage and record touch point opportunities
  • Assist in projects related to overcoming renewal objections during role play training sessions
  • Setup and create Swarm365 summer member events
  • Research local businesses in an attempt to host Member Events
  • Secure location, date, and cost for each event
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Membership Services and Vice President of Sales and Services.

You will work directly with the Foundation Manager to facilitate and maintain the Charlotte Hornets Book Bus & Hugo’s Reading Program/Assembly Presentation. This internship will be a combination of on and off site. This is an unpaid internship requiring the intern to be at all home games and some arena events 20-40 hours per week.

  • You will be assisting the manager with the literacy program for all Book Bus appearances

POSITION OVERVIEW

This individual will work in the video room, help and aid coaches in specialty projects and stats needed during season, use Sportstec & Synergy to edit and log NBA/ College games, work on end of game situations, diagram plays, and help with practice and rebounding for players.  The candidate will have to be in the office between 20-40 hours a week. The Promotions and Game Presentation Intern is responsible for assisting with the coordination of Memphis Grizzlies Marketing and Promotions programs and initiatives; playing an active role in building awareness and excitement for the Memphis Grizzlies.  The Intern will assist in the development and implementation of live event promotions in support of Memphis Grizzlies ticket sales and marketing.  Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the development and management of Grizzlies games and events with a goal of creating a unique, entertaining and fan-friendly event experience.      

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Promotions

  • Assist in the development and promotion of live Grizzlies events to create excitement around the franchise, ultimately increasing the profile and positive association of the Grizzlies brand. 
  • Assist in implementing all necessary details before, during and after media promotion (i.e.: coordinate prizing, game night/event elements, contest rules and regulations, winner redemption, poster put-up and take-down, volunteer recruitment and coordination and other elements as required).
  • Assist in the development of media packages for on-air ticket giveaways in support of ticket sales for specific games and/or non-Grizzlies events.
  • Receive and reply to internal and external promotional inquiries on grizzlies.com
  • Maintain Memphis Grizzlies collateral and promotional inventory
  • Assist with in-arena contests and special events; including regional marketing efforts.
  • Serves as a member of the Grizzlies Street Team for community events.
  • Assists with any appearance requests for dance team and mascot.
  • Assist in the operations of all seasonal Grizzlies out-of-arena events including but not limited to Martin Luther King Day, Season Ticket Holder Party, Tip-Off Luncheon, Open Practice, etc.
  • Other related duties as required

Game Presentation/Operations

  • Assist in the development and coordination of all in-game elements including, but not limited to, talent bookings, acts for halftimes, in-arena promotions, pre and post game activities, anthems, mascot, dance team, game staff etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of in-arena elements with a focus on fan interactivity during pre and post game time, including but not limited to Plaza activities, concourse activities, and terrace level programs
  • Is involved with the creation and development of in-game and in-arena entertainment including on-court promotions, video pieces, fan interactive elements, mascot skits etc.
  • Serves as a member of the Grizzlies Game Night Staff for all Grizzlies home games.
  • Serves as assistant for mascot appearances and game duties as management sees fit.
  • Assists Event Presentation Manager and arena staff to ensure all game night needs are met, including back of house room allocation and set-up, scoreboard operations, premium distribution, etc.
  • Other related duties as required

Position Purpose

The Intern is responsible for the operation and execution of miscellaneous duties for all events and functions.  This position will help coordinate, and ultimately manage assigned needs and requirements for all events at FedExForum, as well as events in the community.  The Intern will work with all departments within the Arena Operations department to help in the execution of events and develop their understanding and skills as a successful Arena Manager.

  • Provide support within the Arena Operations Department for day-to-day operations and all event productions
  • Develop and create event documents to communicate with all arena departments regarding event operational needs and requirements
  • Help coordinate facility events and act as a liaison to facility users to provide information and assistance from conception to production
  • Develop and maintain post event summary and correspondence as required for all events
  • Ensure proper arena set up for all events, including conversions
  • Help coordinate with assigned departments their needs to fulfill requirements for Arena events and functions
  • Work closely with various arena departments to understand their role within the organization and Arena
  • Help manage/coordinate assigned Arena special projects

  • Develop and maintain post event summary and correspondence as required for all events

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities

Essential:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university or recent college graduate;
