Chicago Sky Community Relations Game Day Internship - Chicago Sky (Rosemont, IL)

Community Relations & Operations Game Day Interns will work all remaining Chicago Sky home games and assist with implementation of all game day activities at Allstate Arena.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: set-up/tear down of concourse, 50/50 raffle, supervising mascot, pre-game/post-game events, and on court promotions. Remaining games include August 26th, September 2nd, September 4th, September 13th, September 16th & playoff games if applicable.

Interns may be asked to help work other community events if available throughout the remainder of the fall.

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Outgoing and enthusiastic, not afraid to approach the public

The Community Relations & Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience through planning and implementing Sky Cares Foundation events, community events / activities, membership events and grassroots marketing activities with a goal of driving trial and lead generation.  Interns will also assist with day-to-day operation of the team retail function, community donation program and participate in planning and coordinating promotions and activation for the season. This position will also assist with fulfillment of all elements of partnership contracts.

The position will assist as part of the Sky Street Team and coordinate the Sky's, All-Star Reading Program, Kids Club and other community initiatives. Interns in this role may also be required to participate in the team's 50/50 charitable fundraising on game days.

SKY Ticket Operations Internship

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that are able to work individually or in a team environment.  Knowledge of the Archtics ticketing system is a plus, but not required.  Training will be provided upon acceptance into the program.  Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports operations/sales world, it is an un-salaried position; however, any sales made by a will receive a commission.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Buying and selling tickets through the Sky CRM database
• Updating and filtering the Sky database to ensure accurate information for the sales team
• Creating ticket templates and printing tickets to be mailed

Chicago Sky Fall 2016 Ticket Sales Internship - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. The ticket sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the Sky sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. 

The position will gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing through implementing and planning for the 2016 Season as well as games during the season. Interns will also assist in facilitating grassroots marketing events including mascot appearances. 

Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports marketing world, it is a non-paid position. However, there is potential to earn sales commission.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact ticket sales prospects via phone, email, and LinkedIn to sell Sky ticket packages
  • Assist in planning and executing various grassroots marketing activities with ticket department in order to drive ticket sales and brand awareness
  • Set up and transport various Sky products and materials to and from events, festivals, tournaments, leagues, etc
  • Raise fan support and Sky ticket sales through lead generation, cold calls, and events
  • Aid VP of Ticket Sales and department in assigned tasks including research and projects

Intern - Mobile Marketing - Los Angeles Lakers (El Segundo, CA)

DEPARTMENT: New Media & Technology
TYPE: Paid Internship: Part-time/Seasonal/20 – 25 hours per week
DURATION: Entirety of Lakers 2016-17 season, including playoffs
HOURS: Home game days from 5 - 10:30 pm, following away games, and 1-2 partial days during the week in the office.

The Mobile Marketing Intern will assist in the execution of mobile programs for the Lakers, on texting and mobile app platforms. The intern will assist in reporting on mobile programs and finding new mobile related opportunities for the Lakers. Candidate must be able to work all games including weekends and holidays for the entirety of the season, including playoffs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Set-up and moderate in-venue mobile based promotions from STAPLES Center control room.
• Assist with game day duties required for in-venue mobile marketing efforts (i.e. text to screen, pix2screen and txt2win features).
• Work with production and game operations to ensure features are live at designated times, as noted in game day script.
• Create qualitative and quantitative reports of results from promotions.
• Initiate messaging (SMS and push) campaigns around Lakers news and game information.

The Reno Bighorns are looking to hire two communication interns, each position will run from September 2016 till April 2017. The position is an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the professional sports public relations industry. Each intern will interact daily with members of the media as well as various departments within the Bighorns organization to assist with the overall public relations/media relations efforts of the team. The position involves a large workload and unusual work hours, but is also very rewarding. Below is a brief outline of some of the job responsibilities of the position:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Bighorns PR Staff in all aspects of the team’s public/media relations efforts.
  • Produce daily statistical reports and compile game notes. Copy all printed materials for Bighorns game nights (game notes, rosters, stats, etc.).
  • Compile and distribute daily media clips for Bighorns Social platforms.
  • Prepare credentials for each home game.
  • Set up media work areas on game days at the Reno Events Center.
  • Assist with team publications (media guide, game day program, postseason guide, preseason guide, game notes, etc.).
  • Assist Bighorns PR Staff with media requests at practice and shootaround.

  • Write feature profiles on selected players for website and alternative media outlets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seeking a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related area
  • Desktop publishing experience (both Mac and PC preferred)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Social Media Intern for the Reno Bighorns will serve as the voice of the brand, as he/she will be responsible for managing all aspect of the organizations social media accounts – including but not limited to developing relevant content on a day-to-day basis, increasing fan engagement, expanding the reach of the brand across all social platforms, and dissecting analytics to build upon strengths and find areas of opportunity.
