Position Summary

Media Relations interns have the opportunity to see the business side of sports marketing first hand for the Austin Toros. The Austin Toros are a part of the NBA Development League, the NBA’s minor league system. The Austin Toros are directly affiliated, owned, and operated by the San Antonio Spurs. Interns have the opportunity to work directly with the Austin Toros, dealing with various aspects of the day to day operation of the Team, such as public relations, community events, game nights and general office duties. Internships are paid positions (minimum wage), but are not guaranteed employment once the internship is completed.

  • Assist Media Relations Manager with public relations duties
    • Example – Survey and research trends in the sports industry
    • Example – Assist with efforts to increase awareness of the Austin Toros brand and image
    • Example – Manage and update list of Austin media outlets
    • Example- Develop copy for press releases and media guides
    • Example- Manage Austin Toros social media sites such as, but not limited to Facebook and Twitter
    • Example- Assist with website updates and maintenance
    • Example- Assist with game day media responsibilities. Attendance at ALL home games is mandatory.
  • Attending and assisting with set up of select community events.
    • Example- Attend and assist with set up of community events
    • Example- Coordinate participation in community events with non-profits, schools and other youth and sports organizations

POSITION SUMMARY:

They will assist in photographing events, basketball games, products within a studio and working on our digital asset management system to organize and tag photos.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the members of his/her marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
  • Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners
  • Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports
  • Aid in the development of reporting requirements to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of campaigns

A.) Help write unique content for bobcats.com from breaking news, features, previews and stories

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and requires the individual to receive academic credit. All candidates will be expected to intern 31-40 hours a week and attend all Hornets home games. Candidates will be responsible for assisting with the ideation, planning and implementation of all Corporate Social Responsibility fundraising campaigns and events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate Donation Xchange program of autographed items and merchandise-includes maintaining all databases and follow-through.
• Assist with Player Nation Ticket program - includes distribution of tickets on a per game basis.
• Help with planning, coordinating and implementing community initiatives, focusing on literacy and education, health and fitness, and wellness. Other CR events include Season of Giving, auctions, autograph sessions and mascot appearances. .
• Provide assistance with all Charlotte Hornets Foundation fundraisers, including game auctions, raffles, galas, and other special events.
• Ideation of CSR campaigns and events
• Creation of sales decks to present CRS campaigns and events to potential partners
• Assist with in-arena activities such as meet and greets, VIP game-day experiences, game-day auctions, check presentations, honorary ball boys, high 5 squad, bench warmers, spotlight and the Community Corner concourse activations.
• Manage and conduct inventory of CR storage areas, including autographed items and giveaway items.

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. Chicago Sky Youth Basketball Internship - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

The Chicago Sky is seeking former basketball players that will participate in all Chicago Sky youth basketball marketing and sales efforts. The position will report directly to the Youth Basketball Specialist. While this is an unpaid internship, there may be opportunities to expand into a part-time or full-time position in the future. Candidates must be outgoing, excited, and have basketball knowledge. The youth basketball interns will be assisting with youth basketball clinics, attending youth basketball related events throughout the Chicagoland area promoting the Chicago Sky, and selling Sky youth basketball initiatives.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Enthusiastically promote Chicago Sky increasing brand awareness and fan support at events
  • Assist Youth Basketball Specialist with Court of Dreams program
  • Assist in running basketball clinics with youth ages 5-18 at various schools and gyms throughout the Chicagoland area
  • Actively prospect and research youth basketball programs/teams/schools to drive attendance and group ticket sales programs

The Phoenix Suns Digital Archives Internship is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the professional sports industry. The main goal is to help digitize over 40 years of Phoenix Suns history.  Intern will work with the Phoenix Suns Digital Archivist and drive the updating, organizing and keywording of assets.

•    Digitization of photos, slides, articles, box scores & other archive items
•    Operating a scanner

Job Purpose

The Phoenix Suns public relations internship is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the professional sports industry. Partnership Intern 

Tulsa Pro Hoops, host organization of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, is currently recruiting Partnership Department interns, known as Partnership Interns, for the upcoming 2014 Fall semester. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the fall semester. 

Internship Information

The internship takes place in the Tulsa Shock office located in downtown Tulsa. Partnership Interns support various staff members in areas related to partnership partners, events and creative sales planning, and marketing. These interns support the partnership coordinator with partnership sales coordination, prospect research, keeping and updating prospecting lists, working on in-arena activations and set up, inventory tracking, website partnership promotion updates, photography and preparing partnership recap summaries.

Additionally, the fall semester internship includes but not limited to:

Customer Service – Interns interact with current partners, prospective customers, and sales staff by phone and in person. Excellent telephone communication skills are required. Interns are required to fulfill partnership activations and promotions during the season. At no time during the internship are interns expected to solicit sponsorship sales.

Intern Projects – Interns work on various team projects 15– 40 hours per week. Projects include corporate research, creating and maintaining corporate partner photo libraries, activation fulfillment set-up, set-up of partnership functions and needs at BOK Center, and other community activities during the fall. Also, interns will be taught how to create and assist with corporate sponsorship PowerPoint proposals.

This is a part-time (15-40 hours per week) unpaid internship for college credit. Fall internships begin August 2014 and end December 2014. Interns are required to live in the Tulsa area for the duration of the internship or able to commute to the Tulsa office in a timely manner. Current college students in their freshman to senior years and recent college graduates may apply. Current college students chosen for the internship program may use the internship to receive college credit hours, if the college allows.

Characteristics of Ideal Candidates

Excellent oral and written communication skills are important due to the significant number of phone calls and questions interns are required to handle. Knowledge about the game of basketball is not required.
