Spring 2015 Creative/ Graphic Design Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Hornets are looking for a Graphic Design intern. This is a print design environment. The internship will allow the Intern to gain knowledge of printing and graphics. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters of the Charlotte Hornets season. These internships are unpaid; however college credit must be earned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work on programs, flyers, autograph cards, ads, etc., as well as assist designers with larger projects and have the opportunity to participate in group projects.
• Assist with social media and website design.
• Assist in production areas as needed to learn more about proper file setup and printing.
• Help in print/bindery department if necessary.
• Work with all departments, including Ticket Sales, Corporate Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Community Relations.
• Assisting the Creative Services Department in designing sales and promotional materials such as guides, calendar programs, invitations, postcards, brochures, flyers, signage, and advertisements.
• Researching, scanning and recommending images to use in assigned projects.
• Organizing graphic files for the department.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Basic layout design and typesetting.
• Must have at least beginning knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in a MAC environment..
• Knowledge of Flash is a plus, but not required.
• Great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task.
• Applicant must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Any experience working for a team, athletic department, or with a sporting event is beneficial.
• Good listening skills are required.
• Ability to work independently or in a group is needed.
• 20-40 hours a week.

Education and/or Experience
• Majoring in Graphic Design, Graphics, or related field.
• Must receive college credit

Chicago Sky Ticket Sales Internship

 

The Chicago Sky is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. The sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the Sky sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. The position will gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing through implementing and planning off season activities leading up to the 2015 season. Interns will also assist in facilitating grassroots marketing events including mascot appearances.

Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports marketing world, it is a non-paid position. However, there is potential to earn sales commission.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing various grassroots marketing activities with ticket department in order to drive ticket sales and brand awareness
  • Set up and transport  various Sky products and materials to and from events, festivals, tournaments, leagues, etc
  • Raise fan support and Sky ticket sales through lead generation, cold calls, and events
  • Aid VP of Ticket Sales and department in assigned tasks including research and projects
  • Create and implement strategies to prospect, develop, and grow ticket sales opportunities and ideas

Chicago Sky Youth Basketball Internship-Spring 2015 - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

Description

The Chicago Sky is seeking former basketball players that will participate in all Chicago Sky youth basketball marketing and sales efforts for the Spring of 2015. The position will report directly to the Youth Basketball Specialist. While this is an unpaid internship, there may be opportunities to expand into a part-time or full-time position in the future. Candidates must be outgoing, excited, and have basketball knowledge. The youth basketball interns will be attending youth basketball related events throughout the Chicagoland area promoting the Chicago Sky, and selling Sky youth basketball initiatives. We are looking for candidates to start in January 2015.

 Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Enthusiastically promote Chicago Sky increasing brand awareness and fan support at events
  • Actively prospect and research youth basketball programs/teams/schools to drive attendance and group ticket sales programs
  • Coordinate of on-site activities at events, festivals, tournaments, clinics, leagues - including transport, set-up and supervision of all Sky equipment, products, and materials
  • Collect leads for Sky at youth basketball events, festivals, tournaments, clinics, leagues, etc

Key Responsibility Areas:

INTERNSHIP (Spring 2015): Senior Sales - Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics (Washington, DC)

Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics.  Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C.  Additionally, the group operates Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Capitals' state-of-the-art training facility in Arlington, Va., and George Mason University's Patriot Center, located in Fairfax, Va.


Responsibilities:

  • Database Management:
    • Input assigned leads into Salesforce database
    • Update/manage current accounts
    • Collaborate with senior representatives on personal databases
  • Event and Gameday Staffing:
    • Complete game night responsibilities at Washington Wizards events and Washington Mystics games– Ex. Staff sales tables, promotional fulfillment, gameday service & prospecting events, etc.
    • Participate in grassroots marketing and other networking events in DC area
    • Assist with in-game lead generation programs
  • Sales Prospecting:
    • Assist representatives in corporate research for B2B sales
    • Make outbound phone calls to past ticket sales clients on behalf of senior representatives
    • Make introductory phone calls to potential ticket buyers prospecting all MSE properties
  • Sports Career:
    • Work with senior sales representatives on sales training, sales calls, in-arena appointments, etc.
    • Learn all aspects of the sales process within the ticket sales department.
    • Develop relationships and network with senior level executives at Monumental Sports
    • Gain exposure to other business operations departments within MSE
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Compile and organize client and prospect databases
    • Research other professional sports teams ticket sales campaigns to determine ‘best practices’
    • Assist with direct mail and customer outreach campaigns
    • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student receiving credit for the internship in the Spring 2015 Semester
  • Prefer a Junior or Senior in College or equivalent experience
  • Must be available to work days and evenings as well as certain weekends and special events as needed

Tulsa Pro Hoops, host organization of the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, is currently recruiting Creative Services interns for the upcoming 2015 Spring semester. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experienced staff members in a fast-paced, challenging environment. We are looking for hard-working, organized, dedicated individuals with a team player attitude and the desire to proactively take on responsibility throughout the semester. 

This is a part-time (20-40 hours per week) unpaid internship for college credit. Spring internships begin January 2015 and end May 2015. Interns are required to live in the Tulsa area for the duration of the internship or able to commute to the Tulsa office in a timely manner. Current college students in their freshman to senior years may apply. Students chosen for the internship program must use the internship to receive college credit hours.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist marketing and design team in creating compelling materials throughout the season
• Develop print, web, and video graphics for all forms of advertisement (billboard, magazines, newspaper, internet) as well as the creation of in-game content.
• Collaborate with the Creative Services Coordinator to ensure consistent styling vision and to reflect our brand aesthetic
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Proven proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy

Internship Information

The internship takes place in the Tulsa Shock office located in downtown Tulsa. Partnership Interns support various staff members in areas related to partnership partners, events and entertainment fulfillment, and marketing. These interns support the partnership coordinator with tasks such as partnership sales coordination, prospect research, keeping and updating prospecting lists, preparation of in-arena activations, inventory tracking, photography and preparing partnership proposals.

Customer Service – Interns interact with current partners, prospective partners and third-party companies by phone and in person. Excellent telephone and e-mail communication skills are required. At no time during the internship are interns expected to solicit sponsorship sales.

Intern Projects – Interns work on various projects 20 – 40 hours per week. Projects include corporate research, creating and maintaining corporate partner photo libraries, activation fulfillment set-up, set-up of partnership functions and needs at BOK Center, etc. Interns will also be taught how to create and assist with corporate sponsorship PowerPoint proposals.

Characteristics of Ideal Candidates

Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects, able to prioritize their time and be comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and strong organizational skills are a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge about the game of basketball is not required.
