PROGRAM GUIDELINES:

• We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2010 term (May – July/August)

• Assist with back-end execution of PA Insider - our corporate ticket program that serves over 1000 companies
• Develop, promote, and sell a group theme night under the direction of the Manager of Group Sales
• Assist sales executives at sales events with prospecting for new business and overall sales
• Research trends around the NBA, NHL and other professional sports leagues
• Assist with the management and growth of the group sales database
• Assist sales staff with clerical duties and direct mail

General Statement of Duties: Your Rio Grande Valley Vipers is currently seeking sports minded and motivated students to help develop and implement new and creative marketing and promotions strategies.
If you are energetic, outgoing, creative, and passionate about sports, then we want you
to be a member of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the 2009-10 season and hopefully beyond.
This position requires students who are eager and ready to learn about all aspects of the
organization including, but not limited to, the following: ticket sales, building a marketing
campaign, game day operations and community projects.

Requirements: Availability for game days, special events, and some office hours.
Interns must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Other
requirements include the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, general
computer skills, and detail oriented.
Duties, include but not limited to:
? Assist with marketing and promotional campaigns.
? Develop and implement programs for lead generation.
? Aid in developing and executing game presentations.
? Responsible for generating awareness of Vipers games and
promotions.
? Assist with game day operations.
? Assist with mailings.
? Game-day event organization.
? Assisting in day-to-day operations and community relations programs.
? Assist at community events, charitable outings and mascot appearances.
? Game night set up and takedown of marketing and sponsorship materials.
? Oversee aspects of game day operations (Ballkids, program sales, etc.).

Game Operations Summer Intern - Spurs Sports & Entertainment (San Antonio, TX)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
REPORTS TO: Game Operations Manager
Direct Reports: None

CAPSULE POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Game Operations interns have the opportunity to see the business side of sports marketing first hand. Interns have the opportunity to work directly with San Antonio Silver Stars (WNBA), San Antonio Spurs (NBA), and San Antonio Rampage (AHL) sponsors, dealing with the initial contractual obligations, the implementation of those obligations, and the “wrap-up” of the contracts at season’s end. Game Operations interns are involved with the creative side as well, involved with brainstorming sessions and meetings where promotional ideas are discussed.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrated alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaboration with key internal/external resources and 3) Ongoing self development.

KRA'S (Key Responsibility Areas):

• Assist Game Operations department within office projects and daily tasks
• Organize Game Ops storage
• Assist Game Operations department with game night duties
  o Example – Set-up of table locations, signage, handouts, etc.
  o Example – Implementation of on-court promotions
  o Example – Coordinate event logistics for national anthem and color guard participants, etc.
• Assist Franchise Game Operations Manager and Game Operations/Special Events Manager with planning, set-up, and breakdown of Spurs, Silver Stars, and Rampage events.
  o Example- Homes Games (Spurs, Silver Stars, Rampage)
  o Example-Basketball Camps
  o Example-Auditions
  o Example-Theme Nights/Special Events
• General office duties including answering phones, archiving game photos, market research, etc.
• Related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS INTERNSHIP INCLUDE:

• Must be available to work beginning February/March 2010 - September 2010

• Able to work 20 hours per week (including office hours various Spurs (NBA), Rampage (AHL), and Silver Stars (WNBA) game and events)

New Media Intern - Washington DC (Washington, DC)

Applicants - College Seniors (or those entering their senior year), Graduate Students

Positions - Writers, on-camera hosts, camera operators, video editors

Program - The Washington Mystics New Media Internship Program will provide students with a unique opportunity to showcase thier passion and talents, as they relate to Broadcasting, Journalism and New Media. All projects will aim to enhance the official Mystics website, and provide students with hands-on experience in creating, developing and executing broadcast and journalism projects.

This will be a competitive internship program, where students will have the opportunity to expand their portfolios, as well as implement their own creative ideas within the context of a professional sports team. Space is limited.

Broadcast - Video content will be used to support written stories. In addition, stand alone video features will be developed to continue to provide fans with an in-depth look at the Mystics. Projects will include, but are not limited to player, coach and GM interviews; sponsorship features; training camp recaps; ads; and game previews.

Journalism - Writers will be expected to develop content to include, but not limited to sales; sponsorship & community events; scouting reports; and feature stories.
