Chicago Sky Winter Ticket Sales Internship - New Business Development - Chicago Sky (Chicago, IL)

The Chicago Sky is seeking an excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidate that will interact with the general public while being an integral part of ongoing ticket sales efforts. The ticket sales intern will be a vital part of assisting the sales team in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. The position will gain hands-on experience in sales and marketing through implementing and planning off season activities during the 2018 season. Interns will also assist in facilitating grassroots marketing events in the community including mascot appearances.

Note: While this position gives you invaluable experience in the sports marketing world, it is a non-paid position. However there is potential to earn commission on all sales

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing various grassroots marketing activities with sales representatives in order to drive ticket sales and brand awareness
  • Identify local businesses and set up meetings to attend with New Business Manager
  • Assist New Business Development Manager in group themed call campaigns, including various networking events
  • Attend meetings and events with New Business Manager as seen fit within the internship time frame
  • Identify potential community networking events and leads for Sky employees to attend
  • Raise fan support and Sky ticket sales through lead generation, cold calls, and events
  • Aid New Business Development Manager and department in assigned tasks including research and projects
  • Create and implement strategies to prospect, develop, and grow New Business opportunities and ideas
  • General office duties

Marketing Partnerships Internship - Chicago Sky (Chicago-McCormick Place, IL)

The Marketing Partnership Internship offers students a hands-on working experience. Responsibilities of the intern will be to help the Marketing Partnership Department in both the sale cycle of partnerships and the activation of partnerships contracts. Responsibilities:

• Sales Cycle Liaison. Includes prospecting, initial outreach, pitching, proposal building and contract writing.

     o Guaranteed opportunities to attended in-person sales pitch with VP of Marketing Partnerships & Director of Business Development (as well listen in on various phone call pitches).

• Support all elements of activation including: in-arena (Signage, On-Court Promotions, Concourse Table, Media Room maintence, etc.), Social media (messaging & scheduling), emails, and event support (event execution and pre-event marketing). Will report to Business Development Coordinator.

     o Assist with recap information illustrating key components and successes of each partnership contact including overview, program highlights, and photos; maintain sponsor photo/element libraries

• Work at all Chicago Sky home games assisting in set up, breakdown and the execution of all sponsor promotions

• Interface with current and prospective Sky fans at community events and festivals.

• Assist in measuring the success of marketing elements through marketing analytics (number of impressions & utilize Scarborough research)

• Participate in Sky Intern University to obtain knowledge about the different areas within a sports organization

• Internship Project: Pitch a potential marquee partnership to Sky Staff. To include outlines, research, creating a marketing deck and an in person pitch.

2017-18 Season Intern – Ticket Sales & Services - Dallas Mavericks (Dallas, TX)

The Dallas Mavericks are seeking motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates to become an integral part of our ticket sales and service team. You will be a vital part of assisting the Mavericks ticket sales & service team in a variety of tasks – including sales support, event planning & implementation, and performing customer service initiatives.

Summary: This position is responsible for providing a wide range of support to the Communications Department in all areas including, but not limited to, writing press material, pitching media stories, fielding media calls, running department-related errands, helping with special event planning and set-up, gathering research and performing some administrative duties for the Communication Department.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRA’s):
• Assists in writing press releases, media advisories and other media material as directed by the Communications Department.
• Responds to internal and external requests for information as directed by the supervisor.
• Builds and maintains current media lists.
• Clips all articles as directed by supervisor and maintains up-to-date media clips log.
• Assists in coordinating special events; duties can include receiving bids, preparing event time frames and schedules and final reports, etc.
• Assists in preparing and disseminating media material.
• Performs clerical duties (i.e., collecting messages, scheduling appointments, running errands, etc.).
• Other various duties and projects as assigned.
NOTE: This is not a player-related position. The Communications Intern will work on business operations elements of the Sacramento Kings, including community relations, Golden 1 Center and related projects, Sleep Train Arena, and partnership announcements.

Qualifications:
• 1-2 years of Public Relations experience preferred.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred.
• Must be able to work game nights, extended hours, days, weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media channels and Internet search capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining composure.
• Must be goal, detail, and multi-task oriented with the ability to prioritize.
• Service oriented; committed to teamwork and catering to the customer.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information.

The Texas Legends NBA D-League in Frisco, TX is currently seeking candidates for the Game-day Operations Internship Program. Texas Legends interns are part-time and allow individuals the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization through hands on experience. The Game-day Operations Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
• Assist game-day operation staff with various tasks associated with in-game promotions, game-day entertainment and fan experience, and other game-day functions.
• Assist with pre-game preparation (such as locker room set-up, court-side suites preparation, ect).
• Weekly participant of Texas Legends “Street Team” to engage fans, communicate promotions, ect.
• Assist Project Manager with various tasks as needed
Preferred Requirements:
• Currently enrolled or plan to enroll in an undergraduate program-- preferred majors: Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or other related field.
• Applicable social media skills

The Utah Jazz is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated intern to assist our Group Sales Team.   • Assist the Jazz Ticket Sales & Service Sales team in their daily pursuit of individual and company sales goals
  • Assist the Jazz Ticket Sales & Service team on Jazz and Stars game nights.  These duties include coordinating and assisting with group events, distribution of tickets/credentials and other game night responsibilities as assigned.
  • Contribute to the team by coordinating event management aspects of sales initiatives
  • Perform administrative office duties including filing, organizing, data entry and mailing
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and enthusiastic about working in a sports-related field
  • Self-starter who is also comfortable with learning and collaborating in a dynamic team environment
  • Primary work location will be the Jazz team offices located at the Zions Bank Basketball Campus and at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
  • Physical requirements of the job may include lifting approximately 30 pounds
  • Work schedule will vary and will include office hours as well as staffing events and home games on evenings, weekends or holidays

Fun Zone Attendant - Windy City Bulls (Hoffman Estates, IL)

The Windy City Bulls are seeking a part-time Fun Zone Attendant for the team’s 2017-18 basketball season at the Sears Centre Arena. Fun Zone Attendants will provide oversight of the free children’s play area located on the floor near the basketball court during home games. Individual must be able to handle lines of children, be comfortable standing for long periods of time with repetitive, active movement, have an outgoing personality, enjoy working with children, and be willing to acquire general knowledge of the Windy City Bulls.

Community Relations & Operations Fall/Winter Internship - WNBA Chicago Sky (Chicago, IL)

The WNBA Chicago Sky is relocating downtown to the new Wintrust Arena and is looking for qualified interns to join us as we embark on this new adventure. Community Relations & Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience through planning and implementing community events / activities, membership events and grassroots marketing activities with a goal of driving trial and lead generation.  

Interns will assist with day to day operation of the team retail function and Sky Cares community outreach including: donations, charity tickets and outside events.

Interns will assist with planning and executing events such as Sky Cares Gala, High School Team of the Year program, execution of Sky Legacy Partner and Sky Partner activations and promotions as well as other required tasks.

Note: this is an unpaid internship; academic credit is available

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Excellent phone & computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
