Community Relations & Operations FALL Internship - Chicago Sky (Skokie, IL)

The Community Relations & Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience through planning and implementing community events / activities, membership events and grassroots marketing activities with a goal of driving trial and lead generation.  

Interns will also work all Sky home games and assist with implementation of game operations and community activities in-arena.  Interns will also assist with day to day operation of the team retail function, community donation program, Sky Cares silent auctions and may also participate in the team's 50/50 Charitable fundraising on game days. 

Interns will assist with planning and executing events such as Sky Cares Golf Outing, Sky Cares Fundraising Bowling event, Sky Cares Fitness Festival, execution of Sky Legacy Partner and Sky Partner activations and promotions as well as other tasks as required.

Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Excellent phone & computer skills; specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Outgoing and able to be a Brand Ambassador - willingness to approach strangers to initiate conversations about the Sky
  • Willingness to assist with fundraising

Chicago Sky Video Production Fall Internship - Chicago Sky (Chicago, IL)

The Video Production Intern will work within the creative service department to implement the vision of the Sky through video content. This individual will work directly with the video production coordinator to provide a full-range of video, audio and editing support from concept to post-production.

Interns can expect to gain hands on experience with video camcorders and DSLR cameras during games and player appearances, master lighting for various shoots including green screen and formal interviews, while also continuing to improve video editing skills. Please note that this internship will begin in Skokie and move to Chicago.   

The Video Intern will have the following responsibilities:

?      Produce video content in support of branding, sales, marketing and promotions

?      Edit digital video from raw files to finished work using Adobe Premiere

?      Assist with lighting sets and scripting for green screen shoots

?      Capture b-roll and interviews at Sky events to produce feature stories

?      Distribute video via Internet through Sky website and social media outlets

?      Organize and archive video assets

Criteria & Qualifications

Job Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall

Specific Tasks

Description:

The Dallas Mavericks are seeking driven, creative, and energetic local college students for an Ambassador position for the 2017-18 season. This is an opportunity for someone with an outgoing personality, passion for the Mavericks and their campus, to start a career in the sports industry. The Dallas Mavericks College Ambassadors primary focus is supporting the Mavericks brand by promoting upcoming games, events, and special offers to the student population.

Students will gain valuable experience working with the front office. The goal of a Mavericks brand ambassador is to excite students in new and unique ways while increasing recognition of the Mavs College Pass program. This ambassador program is a paid position and is ONLY for currently enrolled students of sophomore or junior status for the 2017-2018 school year.

Responsibilities:

Position Summary/Objective

Individuals in this position will be responsible for high energy crowd interaction, live promotions, concourse activities, and act as Ambassadors while welcoming and thanking our guests as they enter and exit Wells Fargo Arena for all Iowa Wolves home games.  Hype Pack Members will also be present at various Iowa Wolves community events and appearances.

Work Environment

This job operates during Iowa Wolves home games and community events. Work is both sedentary and active in nature. The position operates out of an administrative office, sports arena and various event locations. The working environment is generally favorable. The noise level is loud during events. During events work is generally performed on the main court, around the concourse and bleachers/steps, as well as in an office environment.  Community events are both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone.  The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone.  The employee may remain in stationary position for periods of time and is frequently required to ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse quickly around the arena on event days and potentially non-event days. Description:
The Iowa Wolves, NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and dependable individual for a Graphic Design Assistant position for the 2017-18 season. This is a paid seasonal position with a start date of October 1st of 2017 and an end date in April or May of 2018.

 

Requirements:
Completing or have completed a four –year college degree strongly preferred (Design, Marketing, Communications or other related field). Ability to work within the dates listed above. Ability to maintain flexible hours, including but not limited to, normal business hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Must provide own transportation and housing.

 

Compensation:
$10.00/hr (20 hours per week, plus game nights)

 

Responsibilities:
1. Create graphics and design layouts for print ads, flyers, stadium signage (print and digital), and more.

2. Work closely with Marketing Coordinator to operate Wolves’ social media platforms as needed
3. Monitor digital marketplace to help team stay ahead of the curve

4. Work to successfully collaborate and execute goals.
5. Serve as digital photographer as needed to capture player, fan, sponsor, and entertainment photographs and videos. Maintain catalogue of materials.

Position Purpose

The Marketing Intern will support two functions within the Marketing Strategy department.  The new intern will be responsible for assisting the Director, Advertising with the administration of game and event advertising.  In particular, the Marketing Intern will provide billing, invoicing and administrative support. 

The Marketing Intern will also report to the Sr. Director, Digital in providing Memphis Grizzlies marketing project support ranging from campaign planning and execution to assisting with related data gathering and ongoing campaign analysis needs.

This position plays an active role in building an awareness and excitement for Memphis Grizzlies and FedExForum events as well as tracking campaign performance and results.
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 Advertising

  • Trafficking ad materials for approval.
  • Code and screen invoices against traffic instructions and insertion orders.
  • Research statements and follow-up with finance regarding payment as needed.
  • Acquire media kits and rate information from radio, tv and web sites.
  • Assist with updating online ad reporting.

Position Purpose

The Intern is responsible for the operation and execution of miscellaneous duties for all events and functions and office duties that may be assigned.  This position will assist the Vice President, Arena Operations and the Director of Guest Services in the coordination of facility management and the front of house management of all events at FedExForum.  The Intern will work with all departments within the Arena Operations department to help in the execution of events and develop their understanding and skills as a successful Arena Manager.

  • Assist the Guest Services management staff in the hiring, training and management of the event staff

This individual will work with other Kings departments (PR, Marketing, Digital, and The Entertainment Department) to build out broader Jr. Kings programs through various channels. The intern will research and look for opportunities to grow and assist with development of Jr. Kings programs. They will perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Key Responsibility Areas:
The Jr. Kings Intern will support the Jr. Kings team in problem solving and planning during the 2016-17 season. They will also assist the Jr. Kings team on game-nights and other related events. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Increase the reach and participation of the Kings and NBA youth sports programming and fan development
  • Assist in researching, scheduling, planning and executing all Jr. Kings programs and events
  • Work with the Kings PR, social media, marketing, and website staff to build awareness and promote Jr. Kings initiatives
  • Seek and pursue promotional outlets for Jr. Kings programs and events
  • Assist with the operations and program staff
  • Build materials and assist with ordering supplies for the Jr. Kings league partnership program
  • Manage and assist with in-arena youth basketball activities including special fan experiences and group sales programs
  • Become an Eventbrite master – build events, manage registration, run reports, and send surveys
  • Assist in creating proposals, contracts and marketing kits
  • Set up, create WOW moments, and break down the Jr. Kings concourse table during games 
  • Assist in managing the Jr. Kings email box, website and social media channels
  • Support the preparation and delivery of Jr. Kings swag
  • Research youth sports best practices
  • Keep real time inventory track of Jr. Kings materials, equipment and supplies
