Administration/General Management: Human Resources Generalist
Manager, Culture & Talent Development - Atlanta Hawks & Philips Arena (Atlanta, GA)

This position will implement culture-by-design initiatives, focusing on two critical areas: team member development and recruitment & on-boarding.

Team Member Development

·        Responsible for identifying opportunities within the Atlanta Hawks & Philips Arena event staff population (approximately 1,000 internal team members) to bring customer service initiatives across guest-facing positions to next level of service and southern hospitality; works closely with part-time managers to develop their training skills and deliver service and culture messaging

·        Identify and partner with SMEs and management to design and deliver culture training and develop a strategy for re-enforcing training concepts

·        Translate learning and development content into appropriate course format and materials including development of course agendas, facilitator guides, participant guides and presentation materials

·        Partner with department heads and managers to identify ways to elevate performance and guest experience within each individual guest-facing, event staff role within the organization; work with managers to implement and train on these initiatives

·        Manage event staff supervisor trainings and development

·        Perform gap analysis on consistent basis, identifying areas of development needed and implementing/evaluating new development initiatives

·        As appropriate, facilitate training courses or source internal and external subject-matter expert facilitators.

·        Develop learning opportunities as needs are identified

Recruitment & On-Boarding

·        Partner with hiring managers to develop, implement and maintain an effective and efficient hiring and on-boarding process that delivers consistent culture, brand and customer service standards and messaging. This includes training hiring managers on best recruitment practices as well as planning and executing hiring events.

·        Conduct new hire orientations, primarily focusing on part-time staff orientations

·        Develop, implement and update Hawks career website that accurately communicates the Hawks brand, culture and perks.

·        Must have expertise in training, learning and development; at least 2 years preferred

·        Must have at least 2 years of experience in high volume talent acquisition and on-boarding

·        Must have experience conducting gap analysis to identify areas of opportunity for learning initiatives

·        Experience translating content into a facilitator-deliverable format is preferred

·        Excellent verbal, written and administrative skills

·        Must have excellent time management skills and prioritization skills with the ability to strike a balance and stay calm under pressure

·        A self-starter with ability to be both creative and strategic while also performing administrative duties to get the job done

·        Must be able to adapt to an ever-changing and fluid environment

·        Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

·        Must be a strong team player, engaging others to assist with tasks in an organized manner and delegating to culture committees in a structured and professional manner

·        Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with and interface among multiple departments and different personalities

·        Hospitality or event industry experience highly preferred

·        Ability to work a very flexible schedule, to include weekends, nights and holidays

  • Sell a full menu of ticket products for the Atlanta Hawks via phone and face-to-face presentations.  Including, but not limited, to full and partial ticketing packages, premium tickets, group tickets, and premium hospitality packages.
  • Meet or exceed weekly, monthly and annual individual performance goals.
  • Set and complete out of office sales appointments, as well as conduct in-arena appointments to close new business.
  • Making outbound sales calls each day with the goal of generating new ticket revenue.
  • Maintaining records of all sales prospecting and customer conversations with our CRM system.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.  All Atlanta Hawks home games will be worked in various capacities including, but not limited to:  prospecting appointments, sales tables, and game events.

Description: Under the leadership of the Senior Manager, Fan Experience, the assistant supports logistics and assists in developing and implementing promotional concepts for all Atlanta Hawks home games, community activations, special appearances and other events as assigned to cheer/talent.  The goal of the position is to help create a fun, unique, innovative and memorable fan experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support logistics for special events, performers and activations
  • Oversee staffing needs for all cheer and mascot requests and events both inbound and internal
  • Assist with parking, credential and early access lists for security staff and other game day needs
  • Assist with coordinating logistics for talent auditions, photo shoots, trainings and rehearsals for AHC, stage managers, interactive squad, sky squad and specialty groups
  • Coordinate logistics for all specialty dance groups and performers including rehearsals, equipment and uniform needs, reviewing music and performances, payroll and appearances etc.
  • Support logistics, planning and coordinates cheer camp (internal and partner camps)
  • Serve as assistant stage manager on game nights
  • Support special event needs including, but not limited to draft party and 5k
  • Assist with administrative/office duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Sport Marketing or related field

Part-Time IT Representative - Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena (Atlanta, GA)

The Part Time IT Systems Tech is responsible for supporting the telecommunications infrastructure and desktop PC’s.  They will also assist with the setup, troubleshooting, and take down for storage of computer equipment and technology for basketball games, events, and concerts for the Atlanta Hawks & Philips Arena.  The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

  • Track, document and maintain all helpdesk requests utilizing a ticket management system.
  • Assist with the setup of statistical equipment for the Hawks home basketball games.
  • Assist with the support and setup of all arena basketball games, concerts, and family shows.
  • Assist with relocating computer equipment throughout the building.
  • Experience with hardware setup and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows XP & Windows 7 operating systems as well as Mac OS.
  • PC hardware configurations to include the installation and troubleshooting of components during setup of games hours before the actual game.
  • Respond to Virus, Malware and various security threats while implementing preventative measures to minimize risk.
  • General knowledge in networks to include basic TCP/IP understanding, DNS and DHCP.
  • General knowledge of LANs, WANs and wireless networks.
  • Provide support for various computer and video related tasks such as the NBA Stats system.
  • Assist media and staff at the event with issues connecting to wired and wireless networks.
  • Understanding of network data, serial and video cabling.
  • Work under direction of the Information Technology staff and with the Stats crew and the “game night” technology staff.
