Brief Description of the Internship

Overview of the Internship: Responsible for sorting, handling, and fulfillment of all incoming requests. Assist in the coordination and execution of all community affairs events & programs including, but not limited to NBA Cares, Holiday programs, Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month, HEAT Learn to Swim Program, HEAT Academy, HEAT Youth Basketball.  Responsible for scheduling and fulfillment of the Honorary Ball Kid Program at all HEAT games. Responsible for writing Community Affairs event recap pieces for HEAT.com.  Responsible for contacting Miami-Dade and Broward county listings for participation in our HEAT Learn to Swim Program. Responsible for formulating questions and answers for HEAT Black History Month Challenge game board while updating game board on PowerPoint.Research and coordinate item to give to the HEAT Academy Volunteers for the annual HEAT Academy End of the Year Celebration. Assist with HEAT Academy Volunteer Program, sending reminder emails based on volunteer schedule. Coordinate schedule for food catering for each of the HEAT School to Work visit dates. Coordinate and assist in setup of items for HEAT Family Festival Silent Auction.Assist with reviewing of HEAT Scholarships, based on the requirements in each student’s application and quality of their essay. Logging attendance for all HEAT School to Work site visits.Duties also include general office duties such as: data entry, answering phones, copying, filing, faxing, and maintaining mailing lists and donation requests. Will perform other duties as required.

Must be enrolled in a college or university. Undergraduate Senior or Graduate Student preferred. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks.  MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.  Heavy lifting will be required at times. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.Must be enrolled in school and able to work from August to May.

Player/Basketball Operations: Equipment Manager
Team Attendant- Seasonal- Temporary- Part-Time - Miami HEAT (Miami, FL)

Brief Description of the Position

Overview of the Job: The Team Attendant’s main function is to assist the Head Equipment Manager in various tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning the locker room, mopping the basketball court, organizing the equipment room and washing and folding laundry. Responsibilities include mopping up sweat during games; rebounding pre-game/halftime; dispensing of water and towels; organization and maintenance of warmups during game; assist with laundry duties; washing/folding and putting away towels/uniforms; assist with cleanliness and organization of locker room; assist with bench setups/teardown. May be asked to help straighten equipment room; assist with player/coaches’ needs as directed by supervisor; stock refrigerators; assist Equipment Manager with any other duties assigned; assist visiting teams with moving and unloading equipment. Other duties assigned to you by staff of visiting team. Ideal candidate must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays on a flexible schedule. All team attendants are required to be at arena 3 1/2 hours prior to game time. Candidate must have great communication skills. Must be able to work well with others. Must be able to take direction. Must be able to multi-task. Must be organized. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (lbs.)
