Sales, Service, & Marketing: Business-to-Business Sales
Director of Sales - Utah Jazz (Salt Lake City, UT)

This position will train and lead a team that will have an emphasis on broadcast media and agency sales.  Will ensure that team and department will meet goals set by management.  Champion the company’s Mission and Vision, and model the company Values.

Specific Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Protect the moral, legal and financial well-being of the Company
  • Continually teach associates new and better ways of doing business with and emphasis on STEWARDSHIP, ACCOUNTABILITY, LEADERSHIP and GUEST SERVICE.
  • Manage, train and lead a diverse team of Miller Sports Properties account executives with an emphasis on broadcast media and agency sales
    • Oversee hiring, training and development
    • Lead sales team to hit organization and property billing targets
    • Work with other sales directors to coordinate sales efforts across all Miller Sports Properties
    • Work primarily with national, regional and local agencies to drive business for Miller Sports Properties
    • Maintain a strong emphasis and support sales team in creating new and incremental revenue
  • Oversee and track sales progress toward TV property goals
    • Collaborate on inventory management with traffic department and inventory management specialist
    • Collaborate on pricing strategies with inventory management specialist
    • Work with sales management and property GM to ensure TV property tracking and success in hitting sales targets
  • Support sales staff to encourage cross-selling of all miller sports properties
    • Collaborate with other sales directors and sales management to develop packages and strategies to include assets from sports properties
    • Provide direction and support in the development of necessary sales materials
  • Collaborate with sales management and other sales directors to create new and innovative inventory offerings
    • Encourage and lead creative selling processes
    • Work across departments and with other sales leaders
  • Develop and implement effective sales incentive programs
    • Work with sales management on incentive trip programs
    • Create ongoing sales incentive programs to energize and motivate sales team

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience in previous sales management positions
  • Heavy emphasis on electronic media and agency work
  • National sales experience preferred
  • Sports sponsorship experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree or greater
  • Strong leadership and training skills
  • Proven ability to work well across multiple departments within complex organizations
  • Strong character and work ethic
  • Flexible schedule
  • Excellent communication skills

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Exposed to intermittent walking, standing, twisting.

Specific Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Set weekly sales appointments at Energy Solutions Arena
  • Act as a representative of the Utah Jazz and Miller Sports Properties at all times by your drive to succeed, daily attitude and willingness to provide quality customer services and professionalism throughout the sales process
  • Conduct sales conversations with key decisions makers via inbound and outbound phone calls, in and out of office meetings/presentations, arena tours and other effective means
  • Learn and implement our sales training and protocols on all sales calls and appointments.
  • Prospect and cultivate new sales leads through creative lead generation methods in addition to strategic and organized follow up with sales leads provided by the Utah Jazz
  • Entertain and nurture relationships with clients and prospects through various means, including: networking events, arena open houses, seat visits at games and more
  • Sell Utah Jazz regular season and playoff ticket packages, Jazz game hospitality and club suites and company and other group outings.
  • Relationship Management (CRM) tools and systems to effectively manage current and prospective client data, ultimately resulting in increased sales
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Self-motivated with a positive and personable attitude
  • Strong organizational and communication skills including verbal and written
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Proven track record of 1-2 years of sales experience
  • Punctual, groomed and dressed for a professional environment
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to work all home and away games and work irregular hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as required
  • Proficient in basic computer software programs
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills
  • Polished presentation skills with the ability to communicate with large groups and clients
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening

Youth Programs Account Executive - Utah Jazz (Salt Lake City, UT)

The Utah Jazz has a full time opening for a Youth Programs Account Executive.  This position is responsible for selling the Youth Programs tickets.  Will be responsible for creating relationships and selling tickets to cities, counties and athletic groups.  Must also be able to complete fulfillment of ticket orders and ensure needs are met, while continuing to sell new clients.  Champion the company’s Mission and Vision, and model the company Values.
