Business Intelligence Architect - Utah Jazz (Salt Lake City, UT)

The Larry H Miller Sports & Entertainment Group has an immediate opening for a BI Architect.  The Individual must demonstrate deep knowledge of an Active Data Warehousing environment. Candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing implementing and supporting complex ETL processes. Must be able to understand and analyze requirements and develop, deploy and configure ETL packages. The developer will use their experience to implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet business requirements. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Solidify and extend existing ETL Processes and Framework.
  • Design ETL jobs, and reusable components to implement specified business requirements
  • Troubleshoot and optimize ETL code; interpret ETL logs, perform data validation, dissect code, understand the benefits and drawbacks of parallelism, apply best practices using change data capture, expressions, scoping of variables, commonly used transforms, event handlers and logging providers, understand and optimize the surrogate key generation and inconsistent data type handling.
  • Create technical specifications documents and design process diagrams.
  • Process design according to current industry best practices
  • Establish standards to be used by the team members.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and enhance deliverables.
  • Develop functional specifications for data acquisition, transformation and load processes.
  • Stay abreast of architectural/industry changes.
  • Develop scripts for data file processing and process integration tasks.
  • Define job parameters, reference lookups, filter criteria.
  • Conduct code reviews and participate in technical design.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimize scheduled jobs, custom SQL and T-SQL jobs.
  • Prepare unit test, integration test plan documents and perform unit test, system integration test; document test results.
  • Support BI Team during functional, UAT, regression, and performance testing.
  • Manage data replication from various data sources.
  • Create jobs that will pull data from a variety of databases and flat files
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • 5 years' experience implementing ETL for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions
  • 10 year experience in RDBMS design and development, and performance tuning
  • Deep familiarity with database technologies
  • Minimum 3 years with ETL tool (SSIS, Informatica, Etc.)
  • 5 years' experience with scheduling ETL jobs using a scheduling tool
  • Ability to read and write effective, modular, dynamic (parameterized) and robust code, establish and follow already established code standards, and ETL framework
  • Excellent troubleshooting & optimization skills: interpreting ETL logs, performing data validation, dissecting code, understanding the benefits and drawbacks of parallelism, experience with change data capture, using expressions, scoping of variables, commonly used transforms, event handlers and logging providers, ability to understand and optimize the surrogate key generation and inconsistent data type handling.
  • Understanding fuzzy grouping, fuzzy lookup transforms, term extraction and term lookup transforms, import and export column transforms
  • Experience in performance tuning, deploying and administering ETL packages, proficient in utilizing scripting.
  • Experience to design jobs that can be easily promoted from one (Dev) environment to another (Test or Prod) seamlessly, without modification.
  • Ability to create ETL specifications, unit, and system integration test cases
  • Clear understanding of ETL best practices
  • Error handling, error propagation and email notification
  • Ability to capture and research issues and bugs, build sample test jobs that recreate a bug, and troubleshoot the ETL until successful issue resolution.

Required Experience:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or related discipline preferred. (Or equivalent work experience)
  • Industry-related certifications (MCITP, MCSE, MCDBA, etc.) a plus
  • Experience writing ETL jobs from Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, and CSV files

Language Skills

  • Must be able to communicate in English

Firewall Engineer - Utah Jazz (Salt Lake City, UT)

Firewall Engineers install, run, maintain, configure, troubleshoot, and repair network infrastructure. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic network engineers with the skills needed to provide a stable production environment. We are seeking candidates that understand the importance of maintaining availability and stability within the production environment and are willing to use and implement processes and procedures that will prevent impact to the business while work is being performed. The emphasis on this position will be maintaining a series of Palo Alto Firewalls and other security related systems, but the candidates will need to be able to support VOIP, Switch\Route, Security Systems, and WLAN.

 Specific Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 7 years of experience in a hands-on Network Engineering with in-depth experience in multiple platforms and devices, namely Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, etc.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, OSI, SAFE network design, network lifecycle, network analysis and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies: BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, IPSec/SSL VPN, Dot1q, WIFI, NAT, RSTP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS, TACACS, Syslog, WAAS, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with VOIP systems
  • Strong understanding of Network Management and Monitoring Systems (Solarwinds, Accelops, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, etc.)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and\or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and\or move up to 100 pounds.
