Who We Are: The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx are professional NBA and WNBA basketball teams based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves were founded in 1989 and the Lynx were founded in 1999, both teams are owned by Glen Taylor. The Timberwolves play in the NBA’s Northwest Division of the Western Conference, while the Lynx play in the WNBA’s Western Conference.

Who We Want: We are looking for an individual with strong video production skills and a passion for the broadcast field. The individual in this role will be working within the Broadcast department and will be responsible for shooting and editing team features for broadcasts, websites, and in-game arena presentations, as well as producing videos and advertisements.

Cover Letter Requirements:

  1. Relate relevant experience in field of video production; include what editing software and cameras you are familiar with.
  2. Include link to features and videos you have produced, shot and edited. Be sure to describe what camera you used to shoot each feature and what editing software you used.
  3. Tell us about your passion for video production - we are looking for a video producer to work in the sports field, not a sports fan to work in the video production field.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions:

1.     Prepare for shoots: scouting locations, scheduling, renting equipment, etc.

2.     Shoot stories for broadcast TV, website, in-arena presentation and front offices.

3.     Work with Partnership departments to shoot and edit videos and advertisements for corporate sponsors.

4.     Involved with set-up and take-down of lighting, backgrounds, props and other equipment on game days.

5.     Maintain videotape and digital libraries.

6.     Setup and strike of Lynx Tricaster operation.

7.     Management of game day Production Associates.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other:

  1. Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.
  2. Proficient with shooting video on DSLR cameras, knowledge of lenses and camera functionality.
  3. Computer skills required: experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) is preferred.
  4. Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  5. Ability to work well on a team and independently.
  6. Ability to manage specific processes and tasks in the department under supervision.
  7. Proficient in video animation and graphics on After Effects preferred.
  8. Proficient in setup and operation of NewTek Tricaster and 3Play systems preferred.
  9. Proficient in writing scripts for: 30 radio and TV spots preferred.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred but not required.


2+ years of video production experience is preferred.

This position does not have supervisory responsibility

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically 9:00 AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday. In addition to working office hours staff are required to work Timberwolves and Lynx home games, in addition to external events including but not limited to: charity and networking events. Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff members in this position will move equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.


Position will require travel to shoot video of external events.
