Sales, Service, & Marketing: Event Operations/Management
Director of Live Programming and Entertainment - New Orleans Pelicans (New Orleans, LA)

The New Orleans Pelicans are looking for someone with sports and live event production experience to manage and serve as the primary contact for the execution for all Pelicans home games and special events with a goal of creating a unique, entertaining and fan-friendly experience.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the creation and execution of game scripts, game day staff, vendors and entertainment for Pelicans home games and special events.

2. Contribute to Pelicans creative meetings developing new content for Promotional Giveaways, Video Features, On-Court Contests, Dance Teams, Live Entertainment and Pre/Post-Game Concerts.

3. Work in conjunction with Corporate Partnerships, Ticket Sales, Community Relations, Group Sales, Accounting, Basketball Operations, IT and Marketing on contractual elements and obligations for Pelicans home games and events.

4. Manage Game Day Entertainment for Pelicans home games (Pelicans Fest, Color Guard, National Anthem, Half-time Entertainment and post-game activities).

5. Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Event Presentation Department including Promotions, Events, Game Day Operations, Live Programming & Entertainment and the mascot program.

6. Manage and oversee Game Night staff and Vendors including but not limited to PA Announcer, Emcees, Music Operator, Interactive Team, Entertainment Groups, Game Day Interns and Special Effects.

7. Develop and write PA's and scripts for Pelicans home games and events.

8. Conduct weekly planning meetings within the Event Presentation Department, as well as Corporate Partnerships.

9. Generate revenue within the Event Presentation department through Mascot, Dance Team and Entertainment team appearances.

10. Attend weekly Operations meetings with SMG to assist with planning and execution of Pelicans home games and events at the Smoothie King Center.

11. Work with Executive Director of Live Programming & Broadcasting on managing the Event Presentation Budget.

12. Oversee the development of Pelicans Event Presentation Initiatives (Jr. Pelican’s program, All-Star Balloting, Grass Roots events, etc...).

13. Oversee Pelicans promotional item giveaways and serve as primary contact with Pelicans Shop by Adidas.

14. Oversee and develop the Event Presentation Calendar.

15. Submit weekly action plans and status updates.

16. Other duties as assigned

Criteria/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or related work experience

  • 5+ years of live event production experience preferred

  • Experience in professional sports or collegiate sports

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Premium Sales Account Executive - New Orleans Pelicans (New Orleans, LA)

The Premium Sales Account Executive generates revenue through premium seating sales employing multiple methods to generate leads, follow up on leads, and sell multiple premium ticket packages and suites.  The ability to build and cultivate relationships with executives through setting face to face appointments and networking is essential.  The focus of sales efforts is on selling Annual Suites, Suite Packages & Nightly Suite Rentals, as well as Floor & Club seating. 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet or exceed established yearly revenue goals

  • Prospect and cultivate new sales leads through creative lead generation methods, as well as follow up on leads provided by the team

  • Conduct sales conversations via phone presentations, in-office meetings/presentations and meetings at the New Orleans Arena

  • Entertain and nurture relationships with clients and prospects through creative means including but not limited to: networking events, speaking engagements, one-on-one dinners / lunches, prospect sampling and outside meetings

  • Perform accurate and skilled deal closings

  • Provide high end service for our premium clients, including but not limited to: renewals on an annual basis, collection of payments and receiving executed seat contracts

  • Develop and grow relationships with current clients to increase selling opportunities through exceptional service and referrals

  • Enter all pertinent prospect and customer information in CRM platform for efficient reporting and historical data purposes

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly motivated self-starter with strategic thinking and personal leadership skills

  • Work well in a team selling environment and ability to collaborate with others

  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage and prioritize daily effort

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with prospects, customers and internal team

  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and CRM Dynamics

  • Ability to work irregular hours, event coverage and weekends

  • Reliable transportation to reach the market on outside sales appointments is essential

  • Four-year College degree required
