Finance: Controller/Director of Finance
Director of Financial Planning - San Antonio Spurs (San Antonio, Tx)

The Director of Financial Planning services all budgeting, forecasting and financial needs for all SS&E Franchises, to include but not limited to the Spurs, Stars, Rampage, AT&T Center, Austin Spurs and USL Soccer.  This position is responsible for providing timely financial data for the use of management, investors and taxing authorities.  A successful candidate will employ budgeting and cost controls accounting practices by using collaboration and relationship building techniques to acclimate to the culture of SS&E.  They are responsible for developing forecasts for proposed projects, measuring actual performance against operating plans and standards and interpreting the results of operations. Overall, this position will supervise and develop a team of accounting and payroll professionals within the department and be accountable for ensuring company accounting procedures conform with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting and payroll staff as it relates to professional growth and development; while monitoring and assessing their work performance and providing consistent support and feedback.
  • Manage and oversee the consistent and successful preparation and review of the annual budget process for all SS&E Franchises.
  • Certify, approve and sign all payment transactions to include, but not limited to staff payroll, checks to vendors for all SS&E Franchises, etc.  Oversee the management of the payroll processes, compliance and approval of check distribution.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements for the year-end audit.
  • Manage strategic financial projects including negotiating contracts and performing analysis of revenue generating and expense reducing opportunities.
  • Manage the preparation of consolidated cash flow projections and monthly consolidated forecast reports for the leadership team.
  • Review all league reporting packages and any other special league requests for the SS&E Franchises.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5-7 years direct financial experience, to include general ledger acumen.
  • An advanced degree or certification such as CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills required
  • 3-5 years experience in a CRM system and/or Great Plains or general accounting software system. Combined experience with any of the software listed will be acceptable.
  • 3-5 years experience managing and leading a team of financial professionals.
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a dynamic team environment with all levels in the organization
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
  • Must be able to prioritize work when given multiple projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to stand/sit/ for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in an office work environment and spend 75% of time in office setting.

Email Marketing Coordinator - Spurs Sports and Entertainment (San Antonio, Tx)

The Email Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in our digital marketing group improving our Email Marketing, CRM, Lead Generation and other email based communications for Spurs Sports & Entertainment franchises. This individual will work to accomplish departmental goals and improve general email marketing and database practices. In addition, this person will coordinate with other departments to help achieve organizational goals, demonstrate alignment with SS&E’s Core Values and Mission, collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and demonstrate ongoing development.

Responsibilities: 

  • Email Marketing: Pull, segment, update and manage subscription lists, work with Ticket Service Team to coordinate regular Season Ticket Member email communications, coordinate content and creative for regular email newsletters and event specific ticket sales campaigns and track performance
  • CRM: Work with CRM manager to improve data quality, help manage lead activation from Ticket Sales department, run regular reporting and track performance
  • Lead Generation: Pull event buyers from ticketing systems, coordinate with Partnership Activation and Digital on specific campaigns, work with marketing for event data capture, acquire and scrub other data sources such as, league data, survey data, and import new leads into CRM and Email systems
  • Email Design: Experience designing email templates and a working knowledge of CSS, HTML
  • Analytics/Other: Assist Analytics team with survey analysis or other projects and build and manage Formstack platform

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum education level of: BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in email or database marketing
  • Experience with CRM, marketing automation, and ticketing platforms preferred
  • Database knowledge: building queries, exporting data, (SQL knowledge a plus)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Presentation/communication skills, with an ability to resolve situations quickly and confidently
  • Willing to work flexible hours on occasion including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic graphic design skills preferred
  • Experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge/experience of sports entertainment and sport industry preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency – English/Spanish, not required but a plus

Front End Digital Developer - Spurs Sports and Entertainment (San Antonio, Tx)

The Digital Developer is responsible for assisting with web development (website, social media and enews) and daily web operations for each SS&E entity (spurs.com; attcenter.com; sastars.com; sarampage.com, austinspurs.com).  The eligible candidate will collaborate with a diverse group of important internal stakeholders, team sponsors, local and national media, league contacts, vendors and a variety of external audiences; independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize a diverse workload. 

This positon will also support the execution of sponsorship and internal sales and marketing communication campaigns.  It is essential that the qualified candidate be able to build strong relationships across departments, be collaborative and help manage expectations of development timelines. This includes talking to many co-workers who may not be digitally savvy or understand technical requirements to execute a request.

The eligible candidate will support projects focused on driving site traffic, engagement and achieving overall department objectives.  The candidate must carry a multitude of qualifications, including but not limited to: ability to maintain confidential documents and files, handle multiple tasks, maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude and have strong creative and organizational skills.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited university. 
  • 3+ years of web development experience using HTML/CSS/Javascript as well as Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Thorough understanding of content creation and web development processes.
  • Knowledge of how to build sitemaps and wireframes
  • Working experience with at least one CMS (Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla etc)
  • Proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
