Accounting Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join our Finance leadership team. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can demonstrate initiative, flexibility, teamwork, maturity under pressure, and anticipate and resolve problems before they escalate. This is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise and knowledge within a growing and exciting sports organization that values your initiative, strong management skills, and drive for results. This is a newly created position that reports to the Controller and is based in Oakland, CA.


Key Responsibilities

Directly supervise team of A/R and A/P employees

Oversee accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing)

Conduct periodic audits of work flow to assure all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized

Supervise and prepare monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations

Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support monthly closing process

Responsible for a timely month end close as well as the accuracy and completeness of the financials

Assure internal control compliance and provide training as needed on internal control procedures

Work on special projects, and assist with various audit preparations, integration projects, and system upgrades and implementations

Assist in the reconciling of revenues and NBA league reporting as needed


Required Experience, Skills & Competencies


Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, business administration; CPA preferred

Minimum 6 years’ prior accounting / financial reporting experience, including both Big 4 public accounting or equivalent and private industry environments

Strong technical background in GAAP accounting and financial reporting; strong financial analysis skills, with proven excellence in instituting improvements in timeliness and quality of financial reporting, analysis, and accounting

Minimum (State #) of years; experience in implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls. 

Minimum (State #) of years; general ledger and financial systems experience, with proven ability to maximize the capabilities of the Company’s systems to drive efficiency and profitability

Must be a self-motivated and team-oriented leader with integrity, credibility, and commitment; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will be accountable for, in partnership with Finance leadership, the integrity of the accounting function

Minimum (State #) of years’ experience in supervising a diverse group of administrative and professional employees; must possess good coaching skills and be able to develop team members; experience leading and managing through a changing and high-growth business environment; ability to assist in recruiting, retaining, and mentoring talent.

Innovative outlook, and genuine business creativity, with the ability to challenge the status quo and drive improvements to processes and performance

Ability to exercise discretion; manage confidential and sensitive information

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and interface with employees of all levels within the organization

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and advanced proficiency in data analysis in Excel

Director, Information Technology - Golden State Warriors (Oakland, CA)

About the Position

The Golden State Warriors are looking for an innovative, customer service-focused manager to oversee our IT team and help drive technology innovation throughout the organization.  The Director of Information Technology’s primary responsibility is to oversee the streamlined operation of the IT department and to ensure it aligns with the mission and business objectives of the organization.

The Director of IT will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of IT will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the Golden State Warriors.


Strategy and Planning

  • Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies.
  • Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.

Operational Management

  • Develop and review budgets for IT department and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements. Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Oversee negotiation and administration of IT vendor, outsourcer, and service agreements
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on organizational needs.
  • Where necessary, re-engineer applications support to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
  • Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Achieve technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.

Arena / Game Day Operations Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and operations of the team’s NBA technological infrastructure in arena.
  • Manage game day tasks, including:
    • Game operations including clocks, scoring, stats & NBA HSAN-II Infrastructure;
    • AV Interfacing (scoreboards and video);
    • Vendor & client relationships;
    • IT game day staff duties & schedules;
    • Troubleshooting processes; and
    • Backup and failover processes for Team/Arena services.


  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a relevant business or technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in IT management positions
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong team player with a customer-first focus and attitude
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage a work plan and resolve issues to achieve quality results

Manager, Retail Operations - Golden State Warriors (Oakland, CA)

About the Position

The individual in this role will be responsible for managing the Golden State Warriors’ (GSW) retail business operations which entails merchandise purchasing and inventory management at the team’s retail and online stores. The individual in this role will be a hands-on manager with a successful track record in generating revenue and driving profitability. The individual filling this position must possess great energy, a strong merchandising background, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to ensure the team’s retail presence operates in accordance with GSW & NBA standards and protocols; make decisions that are compliant and guided by precedent & company policy.
  • Set clear objectives to monitor process, progress and results, while providing feedback to management, peers, and external colleagues as necessary. Consistently communicate, consider and provide timely information that others need so they can make accurate and informed decisions
  • Develop a compelling strategy to generate sales revenue and assist to reengineer the sales and service architecture of the team’s retail business 
  • Collaborate and approve product assortment, key item positioning and promotional plans, ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable and supports overall business objectives; Test market and develop new programs and pricing strategies; cross promote business with other SBU's to leverage synergies and profit potential
  • Analyze consumer buying patterns, regularly review product inventory mix and key performance indicators, manage changes in inventory supply and demand
  • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and identify new vendors and suppliers as needed  
  • Attend trade fairs to select and assemble a new collection of products; stay current with topics and trends related to retail best practices in sports and entertainment industry  
  • Generate and maintain reporting on various retail management metrics; gather and analyze customer feedback; incorporate into retail operations as needed  
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Experience & Skills

This position requires a seasoned professional with energy, passion, entrepreneurial spirit and the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in business, merchandising, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a retail management role within a sports/entertainment or  corporate retail environment
  • Strong project management and organizational skills in which attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate organizations in order to build relationships and garner support; ability to work collaboratively with cross functional work teams and to establish rapport with others; strong teamwork and synergy skills required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions while working in a fast paced dynamic work environment and the ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Ability to set clear objectives to monitor process, progress and results, while providing feedback to management, peers, and external colleagues
  • Ability to think creatively; work independently; Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work irregular hours with a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department; minimal travel; attendance at majority of GSW home games and other organization events is required

About the Position

The Golden State Warriors have an immediate opportunity for a hard-working, detail-oriented marketing associate. This is a part-time entry level position that will provide support to the marketing and creative teams. Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit design requests for all advertising elements, including: TV, Radio, static    and digital OOH creative, Online advertising ads and in-arena and stadium vision elements

Manage Advertising inventory for Television, Radio, In-Arena and exterior advertising assets (advertising buys and ticketmaster inventory) along with Box Office Posters and GameDay and Yearbook inventory.

Prepare Advertising recaps and update brand decks for all Warriors promotions

Assist with grassroots marketing and promotional research and planning assistance

Prepare best practices research for the Warriors Promotional Schedule and provide support for any advertising-related needs in-relation to the Promotional schedule
