Senior Strategic Planning Analyst / Insight & Foresight - Oklahoma City Thunder (Oklahoma City, OK)

As a Senior Strategic Planning Analyst / Insight & Foresight, your work is critical to uncovering valuable insights that help shape the organization’s future. You will work to identify, evaluate and realize opportunities for competitive advantage.

Working with colleagues, you will help shape the composition of the team by optimizing resource allocation and asset management within the Salary Cap system.


Other day-to-day duties include:

  • Perform independent and directed research covering player and asset valuation, market analysis and forecasting, salary cap management, competitor analysis, league financial analysis, and negotiation preparation.

  • Synthesize research into key findings

  • Establish expertise in one or more strategic planning focuses

  • Command a full range of strategy skills (e.g. understanding of the CBA, cap management, modeling, scripting)

  • Own workstreams across a breadth of Strategic Planning focuses

  • Develop impactful reports, tools, presentations, and ongoing deliverables


  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree

  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills

  • Outstanding track record of academic or professional achievement

  • 2+ years of experience in related field such as data science, analytics, management consulting or finance

  • Experience with technical tools for analysis a plus - R, Python, SQL, etc.

  • Proven respect for confidentiality

  • Strong communication skills—ability to deliver clear and effective messages to a variety of stakeholders

  • Must be able to work long hours on short notice

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning / Insight & Foresight.
